    Hi,

I was wandering how difficult it is to get a driving lisence when you are out there? If anyone knows..

I am currently not lisensed in the UK (mainly because I cant afford a car anyway) but have had quite a lot of lessons and have my provisional. However, in the US I could certainly afford to drive, would not having a UK lisence be a problem?

What is the test like? What is the written element like?

    Regards,
    Jamie

im in the same small teapot shaped boat as you as well.

i know the the driving part is very easy but there is alot for the written test apparently but i doubt thst slighty.
    when you going out?
i've reaplied for my prov and am starting my lessons again as it will be soooo much easier for when i get out there! so ive got 5 months to get sorted!

Money really isnt too much of a problem, im working in a pretty good job now so should have about £2-3k to invest in a car, insurance, etc, more if need be (but I am hoping to inherit one from someone out there I know!), but I would like some for trips around. So I figure I would be able to keep it in gas to just do the occasional journey pretty easily.

    Regards,
    Jamie

The stuff on insurance is pretty clear, but I was wandering if anyone could tell me what the actual driving test is like?

my friend lived in orlando when she was 15 for 3 years and she did the driving test there and she said it was really easy.
Im sure she said it was like just in like a parking lot type thing. Not actually on the proper roads.

Had a look at the thoughtfully-posted site. For all those who can drive already - looks like we just do hearing/vision tests and thats it for a Fl license, coolio - save people (ie doormen) faffing about with my UK driving license that i used as ID last summer in the States, although it did start up some interesting conversations!!
Looking into getting a Fl ID card too, just for a souvenir!

You still have to take the driving test, even if you have a license in your own country, unless it's changed in the last year! This has been discussed in another thread too! You only drive in a closed parking lot for your test!

I took the DMV practice test, and I scored 85% ;D That has to be a pass, right?

When I lived in Switzerland, the job I had required me to drive. I went to the AAA and they gave me an international drivers license. I don't know if you have that option but you could check it out.

As a cast member and familiar with the transportation sysem you would use at Disney, it will take you about 30 to 1 hour to get from you houseing complex to your job area, depending on where you will be working.

If you are looking for other options for transportation I may be able to help you. Just e-mail me at n.p.dyer@juno.com and I will fill you in on all the details. Thanks!
