My mom found this article in the St. Petersburg newspaper...It really freaked me out. Anyone else hear about it?

ORLANDO - Authorities are investigating allegations by a Walt Disney
World employee that she was raped by four other Disney employees, the
Orange County Sheriff's Office said Monday.
No charges have been filed against the suspects, who are French
employees of Disney's International Program. They were cooperating with
authorities, said Jim Solomons, sheriff's spokesman.

"We are cooperating fully with law enforcement and its investigation,"
    Disney spokeswoman Kim Prunty said.

The accuser told investigators she was walking home to her apartment
late Saturday night when she was confronted by four men who "grabbed her
by the arms and carried her" into an apartment shared by the men.

The suspects forced her onto a sofa, "removed her clothing and held her
down" and took turns raping her, the report said.

The Commons Apartment in Orlando, where the rape allegedly occurred,
houses international employees of Disney, many of whom are cultural
representatives at the Epcot theme park.

It is unfortunate that this happened and it's great that something is being done about it. I commend the victim for having the courage to come forward about it. Sadly, I'm sure this isn't the first rape at the Commons. But at least now there is an awareness. Hopefully this will encourage CMs to not walk home alone, or call someone when they have arrived safely. I also hope that the Commons security improves or finds new ways of protecting its tennants. That being said, I really don't agree with the fact that this topic was addressed earlier today and removed promptly. The Commons is like anywhere else in the world. Applicants should not be given a false sugar-coated impression. Also, the suspects' nationalities were identified -> But it is important to remember we must not be ignorant. People from every country/culture/race/ethnicity commit criminal acts.

That's my two cents, take care everyone

I didn't even know anything about it until last night...don't get scared tho...this was an awful situation, but it's no reflection that everything here is like that!!

what I think is really poor is that we don't ever get officially told about these things - it's not like they get covered up, but we're never openly warned about things like this, which i think is terrible!! We should all be notified so we know to be safer! I think everyone does have a false sense of security here - I'd think nothing of walking up and down the commons at 3am on my own.

Security really are quite crap here....they're never there for the really serious issues, but quick to jump on everyone when they're drunk, or being silly, or (as my friend Jeff experienced) using a hockey stick!! (seriously, he nearly got terminated for carrying a hockey stick to his apartment cos they accused him of using it as a weapon!)!!!!!

But don't let it worry anyone....for the most part we are very safe here.

    Ellen x x x :D

I'm no more worried about it than i am at home.

It's terrible that this had happened especailly in a place thats ment to have security but if you take a look at your local newspaper ect you'll find the same thing happening near enough everyday.

I do hope that the girl is alright and that this doesnt cause too much tension between everyone over there especially towards the french - who, in my experience are really nice people :) except when they drive :D

Hope this all gets sorted out soon

My heart goes out to the girl but i have faith in the police and that they will figure it all out. It's a really good reminder for every one though that even in disney you have to be aware. Sadley this world is not a perfect place.

Try having your dad forget that you drive on the opposite side of the road in france - he drove right into on coming traffic ::) God never again.

Then ofcourse there was this french guy who took us on a trip round Paris and eh forgot about the speed bumps :D I'm convinced the car left the ground even if it was only for a second.

You're saying the french are mad on the road, have you not been to Florida yet!? Even my Floridian friends told me to watch out because of the crazy driving! I was waiting at a zebra crossing, the car stopped so i said to my friend "oh its stopping" and we started to cross, then it starting moving! we were running across the road yelling "its not stopping! its not stopping!"

I havent forgotten about it and i doubt anyone else has but if you notice many posts of these boards go off topic. I think we where talking about buses on one and ended up talking about coffee/tea.

Until we know more info on this i cant see thats theres anything else to add to this.
