do the apartments have air conditioning???

im sure they do...but gotta make sure....anyone know?

They are actually really cold for the most part...and you'll love it.

Tho i found the only problem with the air conditioning in Florida is I picked up a cold easily from going in and out of hat and cold.

 

Yes, there's a few who get those colds! You'll learn quick to bring an extra sweater if you're going to the movies or something, because it's so much colder inside than outside

 

This is what worries me most! I hate air conditioning with a passion! I don't like to feel cold at all. Not that I like being in a sweltering room but just to have the air con on to take the edge off the heat is enough. I'm going to die aren't I?

 

i think after a day in the florida sun youll love stepping into the nice cold apartment...

 

can you adjust the air conditioning at all or is it at a set temperature?

 

you can set the temperature, but remeber you could have up to 7 other room mates who all want it at a different temperature!!

 

Yes, everyone usually wants a different temerature... AC wars are very ususal! The best is to try and make a deal with your roomies to have it on one temp all the time...

 

One of my housemates used to put the heating ON!! Its like... just go outside and warm up!!

 

Hehe, I had a roomie from africa that prefered to walk around in her underwear or nothing but her towel and she turned it off all the time... I tried explaining that it was easier for her to put a sweather on than it was for us to take of any more clothes, but it didn't help much.

 

ok that's good that you can change it. and i'm totally fine with compromising on the temp (to an extent haha) I get cold easily but I'll be sure to bring a dressing gown and warm pjs in case I often use my magic bag to keep warm, you know those bags filled with barley or something that you heat in the microwave and put on your neck? lol
Anyway I'd rather be a little chilly than argue with my room mates

 

the biggest probem one faces when living at the commons, or any of the other apartment complexes for that matter, is that damn air conditioning... if you can, try to get roommates who are not from france.. they are nazis about the ac, always turning it off. I was at a constant war with all the french guys I lived with when it came to that ac. The temp controller thingy eventually broke though, while set at a low temperature, so I was happy.
After a while though, you get used to the Florida heat, and sometimes find it kinda nice to be somewhere unbarably hot.
Just be sure to turn it on before you head off to bed, the nights are brutal if the air is hot.. and it doesn't help opening the window either, the air at nights is just as warm as the air during the day.

 

I love the heat ;D But I don't like it when it's still really hot at night, and then u wake up all hot and sweaty...ewwww lol

 

yeah, i know. I would wake up all the time during the night because of the heat. But after about 11 months and a couple of weeks, you get used to it. And you could fall asleep in a sauna

 

Haha, I can't count all the times I woke up in the middle of the night drenched in sweat because someone thought the apartment was to cold and turned of the AC in the evening!

 

Omg! Sounds like you lot are gonna be having a few ac battles when you go...

 

i bet she was french.. she was walking around in her panties, .. it was 50 degrees celcius inside, and she was cold

 

LOL, I think the problem with that scenario was the panties part.
