Disney voluntEARS

Watching "Extreme makeover home edition"...
(i know, it's not such a cultural program but I like it!!too funny!!)
..I've seen an episode in which a team of Disney volunteers was involved in helping children at the hospital..
..it was simply amazing..
...and I was wondering..
will a Cast Member be allowed to become a Disney volunteers in his spare time?!?!?
I'd like to have that chance...

Yes they said that there are lots of opportunities to work with "Give Kids the World" - an organizatoin that apparently facilitates visits for kids with life threatening illnesses.

Alex THAT was one of my questions at my interview!! I specifically asked if I could JOIN VolunTEARS.....

YES YES YES they said! I will be joining when I settle in!! Perhaps we can get a bunch of us and that can be an outting for us all!!

I volunteer with the Canadian Cancer Society right now.....HAVE for the last 5 years because it's EXTREMELY important!! So it will be FANTASTIC to join down there and continue!! ;D ;D

 

that's a veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery good news..
...I really hope we'll be able to do this together...

The VolunEARS scheme looks excellent, i will definately be joining!

Apparantly, at some point during your first week you can ask to go onto the VoluntEARS mailing list, and then they simply email you lists of forthcoming events and you can ring/email to book what you want to do.

They do everything from looking after unwell children, helping to pack bags in Walmart, picking up litter on the beachers.....it is that little something extra to do to add to the experience!

Yeah I asked Julie about Voluntears in my interview and she said that when you get your password you can check out the voluntear's section and sign up if you want for whenever you are available to help out.

As James said you can do so much from babysitting terminally ill children to helping hurricane victims and raising money etc...

Soooo looking forward to getting to do it, and by the looks of it most of my fav peeps will be there doing it too!!

I think the volunearing days look fun, a good way to get out and do some new things. Everything during the year will be the first, and the last...so we all may as well make the most of everything

ya i'd be totally down with the voluntearing .....espcially to make sick kids enjoy their experiance at disney that much more enjoyable it would honestly be priceless to help out
