I've noticed odd comments on here from a couple of people about a (new?) nearly-year long program involving work at Disney, plus an education component. I haven't noticed anything from any of the official sources about it, so was just wondering if anyone had any more information about it. Andy
There is the International College Program which is usually for about 3 months which you do between years at University in your summer break! Sctoll to the bottom of this page and there is a very brief intro to it http://www.disney.go.com/DisneyCareers/wdwcareers/international/options.html Also details how to apply Hope that helps Colin
Hey Colin, Thanks for that, but I actually did the ICP last summer! I've seen a couple of posts about longer program, which includes study at a US university, which is what I was talking about. I'll see if I can find them again. Andy
My college [University of North Carolina at Greensboro] has a program set up where I take three courses while at disney so I can still maintain full time student status. Hope this helps!
Hi Andy, Could this possibly be the program you are referring to. I don't think its offered internationally, its for US based universities and colleges I think... http://www.wdwcollegeprogram.com Hope this helps Colin
It's not, no, though thanks for the thought. I see no links to it where online. I found it on these boards - here's a link: http://www.thefairground.com/smf/index.php?topic=2318.msg61786#msg61786 And a quote from soumya86: "yeh but there's this new programme which i've applied for where disney's teamed up with an american university and provides me with work and part time education for a year... i assumed that was this." I would send a PM, except this board doesn't seem to support PMs. Andy
Yeah there is such a program, brand spanking new for 2006, its not up on the website yet. Dont know what countries its being offered in but here in the UK you need to speak to Yummy Jobs about it. Its a year long and you do educational courses while working at Disney
Yeah this was sparking my curiosity quite a bit too. I've asked Lousia (aka DisneyGibbs) about this via IM (or PM Andy it's the same thing just a different name ). This is from her website (hope that's ok Louisa). My only remaining question is whether it's a student program? :-\ I've already graduated but I'd love to try this program. I wanna work for the mouse!!! ;D I guess DCL will have to do for the moment. ;D Anyone with more info. please do share. Ona
Hehe Ona, I did manage to notice the PM option after that post and have been talking to Lou about it on MSN. It does seem to be an International version of the Disney College Program, as opposed to the International College Program which is summer only - making it all very confusing!! It would help a lil' if Disney/Yummy circulated more info about these things...! As far as I can see, it's on limited roll out to two universities and yes, it is limited to students only. Take a look at this, too: http://www.cm-life.com/vnews/display.v/ART/2006/01/18/43cda31cb2be7
Yeah it's a strange one. ??? It really just sounds like an extended ICP with more opportunity to study. It doesn't sound so much like the American only Advanced Internships (Or Professional Internships as they are now called), more like an extended CP I guess. What I'd love to see is International Advanced Internships or even the possibility for Internationals to apply to the existing ones. But it's all damn visas issues. Oh well yet another glimmer of hope dies. Lol. ;D OnaÂ
Hehe... I'm in the same boat! International Professional Internships would be *wonderful*, yes. I'm not even sure it is entirely visa issues. Disney do seem to be developing more programmes for international students, slowly, though not as many as they had in the days seen here http://www.thefairground.com/wdwip/outlines.htm. I think on the full J1 visa (which is what Disney used to use for all of their programmes, I believe, prior to getting the Q1 established), we could do something Professional Internship-like. But seemingly its not to be so Hope DCL works out for you in the end! Andy
I would have LOVED to do the Fellowship Program or the International Management Program. There have been rumous for aaaaages about the management program starting back up and it did look hopeful while I was on the IP but alas, no such luck. : ;D Yeah I think that the US government has become far stricter in the uses of J1s since 9/11. Even agencies like BUNAC used to offer the opportunity for young people (ahem... under 30's) to do "internship USA" and work anywhere in the US for up to 18 months but alas all that is currently available is the J1 but only for students. :'( :'( I seriously picked the wrong time to be a student. ;D Ona
