Wouldn't it be higher? Disney store wages in the UK start at £5.18 an hour (9.28 US$, 11.15 CAD$), there's this weird thing in that disney don't technically own the disney stores anymore (I'm not to clear on the details).

Or do you mean disney store in the parks? becuase then it would be the lpwer wage.

I'd say it depends on the province (for Canada) as minimum wage is determined provincially. Disney probably just pays a bit above the minimum wage for the local jurisdiction in any country hence why one can't just convert the wages using current exchange rates.

  5. well here in BC canada they pay exactly min. wage. $8.00 per hour. and yeah, Disney doesn't own the Disney store anymore, they were bought out earlier this year by the Children's Place.

When I started at the Disney Store in 1997, the starting pay was $7.25 and it was that for at least the next few years. I don't know if that's changed, but it was slightly about the $6.80 minimum wage. Didn't minimum just go up in Ontario? Or it's supposed to be going up?

Yep, and as Tessa said, TDS was bought by The Children's Place last November. I was still working there at the time, but left this past January. I know my old store just reopened after a renovation and from what I've seen it looks pretty nice.

Unfortunately, with the sale of TDS, many Disney perks were lost. All CMs at TDS now get 30% discount at the store regardless of your years of service. There are no discounts for the Parks, Hotels or Food and Merch at the Parks. No comp entry for CMs into the parks either. TDS CMs can however call ahead and get 3 one day hoppers to WDW once a year.

Which store in Toronto were you thinking about applying to?

Wow, the minimum wages in some countries sound harsh.

In Australia it is $12.30 an hour in Australian dollars but that still works out greater than at $6.80 or $7.25 American dollars (once you are 21 and over of course)

It is still low, but it is not too bad unless you live in Sydney

But at most places it is more like 13 - 15, and as a bartender 18 dollars and up (no tips though so not as good in that respect)
