Disney Look Clarifications

I got my Disney Look Book this weekend, and I think after reading it I am more confused. I was hoping some past/current CMs could help clarify some things about what to wear to Traditions.

Shoes -- I don't have many shoes that aren't sneakers, so I was wondering are open toed shoes really acceptable? I read it in one section of the book. I have a pair of light gold open-toed shoes with a kitten heel that would be much prettier than my close-toed black flats (which have a small buckle -- is that okay?).

Skirts -- are we allowed to wear a skirt that is not apart of a suit? I have a black, plaid-like patterned knee-length skirt to wear.

Shirts -- What is the verdict on polo-style shirts? I have a white collared cotten shirt that I think might be less hot than a blouse.

Thanks to anyone who can give some pointers!

Hi there. To be honest, the Traditions classes are not that strict on the Disney look. Polo style shirts are acceptable and so are the non matching skirts. Most people don't even wear a proper suit, just a skirt and shirt. The shoes I am not certain on, but I don't think you'd get turned away wearing those as long as they look smart and match the outfit :) Oh and the buckle is fine for Traditions :)

I wouldn't risk the polo shirt, people have been turned away for that before. But if you have something wrong on you, they usually try to help you, like letting you run down to costuming and borrow something there. But if you have wrong shoes they can't help you. But the first days you are there is only casual wear, and you'll have plenty of time to as Disney staff about what's acceptable and not before Traditions ;)

Thanks so much! Well, hopefully my shoes pass! Should I bother then bringing a suit jacket (it matches a pair of my pants). It just know I would be too hot wearing it.

Well, you might just be surprised. The airconditioning in Florida is soooo cold!!

I just had Traditions last week and they told us polo shirts are absolutely fine. Don't worry too much about it. People at our class were even wearing jeans and sneakers and while thats not right, no one got turned away for it. Its only when you go into the training for your country that they get a stricter on what you wear.

Thanks! When do we start our country training? I'll know before then if my business wear passes the test?

You're work role training won't begin until after Traditions...

When I had mine, they were so strict that many people got sent away...I went safe with a proper suit and shirt with plain shoes...you're not out to win any fashion awards, just to get through the 4 hours that Traditions takes! The air conditioning is freezing, so you'll definitely need a jacket.

No not sent home....just told to go away and sort it out. Some were given cards and told that if they wore the same things in their next training they'd be sent back to their apartments. Same thing goes with hair. It was only a couple of people.

Hair is ok if its natural colouring, you can wear make up but just don't go over the top. I still wear my blusher, foundation and eyeliner but just not too thick. Jewellery isn't really allowed. You can wear a watch and a pair of stud earrings no bigger than a quarter, but no more than one pair of earrings, and no necklaces or rings with grooves in them that germs can get lodged in. During your first few days the Disney look team will come check you over to see if you match the look.

do you have to wear your hair in a certain style, like pulled back if it's long? and I guess no hoop earrings? I have 3 holes in each ear, I have no problem taking them out but the empty holes look kinda ugly i think lol. Can you wear heels? or should you wear the non slip black "work" shoes you have to get?

It really depends on where you work...hair down in food locations is a big no no for obvious reasons (even though I did at the bakery, but we had to wear hair nets when working with the food so that was ok). I'm sure you can wear hoop earings, but they can be no bigger than a dime/5p piece. And you can wear heels, so long as they're not high, and depending on your work location, but I wouldn't recommend it. You'll be on your feet all day (as there is no sitting down on stage!) so you need to be comfortable.

There will be numerous times where you'll be able to ask about Disney Look during the first week. They are quite strict but they're not horrible about it...everyone just has to look alike and they need to make sure everyone does! Don't be scared to ask if something is right or wrong...I was really worried about my glasses, but Disney were really helpful.

During your training they will check you over to prepare you for when you go into work. It is strict but if there's nothing wrong with your look they will just go over the look with you anyway.

I got my welcome back the other day & the little Disney look book just confused me further about what is ok for a fella's hair! I think I will just shave my barnet off, it says that's allowed!

LOL They'll just make sure you're not wearing anything you shouldn't be, that you're hair isn't some random colour and that you're not covered in piercings and tattoos. You'll get the Disney Look book before you go, so you can read about what is acceptable!
