Disney never did the whole lights to music thing, but they used to decorate the backlot houses until they were absolutely dripping with lights. There was this family that used to do this display and disney bought it all from them and put it all on at MGM. They even named it after the family. It was all really cool. Anyways when they brought in that new car stunt show, they tore down all those old houses. So now they only decorate New York Street. I haven't been there at X-mas since they changed that, but all those houses were awesome.
The Osborne Family Spectacle of Lights. I've seen the pictures of New York Street-and while they dont have the same reasoning and meaning behind them there, the lights are still sooooooooo cool! The story is that the Osbornes (not THE Osbornes, but y'know) decorated their house so much that eventually, the neighbours took them to court. That's the name of the family. I couldn't for the life of me remember. They were really cool when all the houses were done. They gave you special glasses to wear that made all the lights look really cool. I miss those houses, they were from old movies and tv shows. It sucks that they're gone. but I'm sure the car show is really cool.
I saw Moteurs...Action!, the original version of Lights, Motors, Action! in Disney Studios in Paris and I can honest say it was briiiiiiiiiiiiiliant! It's a really cool show-even if it is disappointing that it meant Residential Street had to be demolished. And on the upside, those lights are all still up over on New York Street If you do a quick search around, they still look so preeeeeety! Kev

that was crazy! i luv it! Can not imagine living next door to them - but imagine the electricity bill!
