sorry guys, sure this has been discussed on a thread previously, but if I start looking through them all I keep getting distracted by other cool stuff/topics (i'm just like a child)

Could someone please let me know how long after we start the we are eligible for the discounts for stays for friends and family & if there is a general amount that you usually get off (obviously will fluctuate seasonally, but just a general ballpark starting figure)

also what level of discount do we get on park tickets for friend and family (ie. a limited amount of passes/passes for friends/family that are valid for 1 day entry etc)

finally in terms of the apparantly many varied discounts we get as cast members in the local community, what/were are these at? (does it just apply to stuff such as shopping at walmart or does it also include s discount to other attractions in the orlando area/travel on public transport in orlando)

really grateful for any help in clearing up these questions. Xx

    Hey

You are elegible for discounts on rooms as soon as you log onto "The Hub". This usually happens within a week of your arrival. The Hub is the communication portal for staff members and allows you to request days off, look at your scheduale and book hotel rooms. The percent off does change with the season but it is generally 40- 60% off the regular price. I was there in the summer of 2008 and it was 40% for friends and family and 50% if the cast member was also a registered guest to the room. All of this information will be avaible on the Hub when you get on it.

Your cast member id acts as your own park ticket. You'll get this at Traditions on your 3rd or 4th day there. It gets you in free to all four parks when ever you like. During the summer months you don't get into the water parks for free unless you work there. But if you show your id at the ticket both you get half price tickets. Your cast id also gets you 20% off sit down meals and 35% off merchandise. You also get a Main Gate pass. The main gate pass is what you use to get your friends or family in. I'm not sure how many days you get when you go for a year. But for each day you have you can get up to three people in for that day. It acts as a park hopper as well so if you start at Magic Kingdom you can finish the day in EPCOT without using up another day. The main gate pass has some block out dates that will be on the back of the holder it comes in. Just look at these when you get your pass so you know about them.

As for other discounts, they are called TEAM discounts. Unless they have changed it you do not get a discount at Wal Mart. However, a whole list of places that you do get them will be on the Hub and there is a book full of them too. I dont remeber exactly where you get them but its random retailers. For instance, you get a discount at Tommy Hilfigure in the mall. There are some resturants in the area that you get discounts at too. Like i said, it was 2008 when i worked there last so im not sure on the exact places you get them.

Just a note for things that have changed:

The merch discount is 20% off for ICP. The 35% is for people who've been there 3 years or more (so not us). During the holidays it goes up to 40-50% which is AWESOME.

Full service meals, yes, it's 20% but there is an automatic 18% gratuity added.

Hotels haven't changed but at holiday time that goes up to 60%.... I stayed in a 350$ room at Animal Kingdom Lodge for 140. It was epic.

As for things around Orlando, there are a few and they're listed in the HUB. Mainly it's at stores/restaurants right around the housing complexes. Right behind the Commons there is an outlet mall and I think about half of the stores there offer discounts.

You get to let 3 people into the parks for free 12 times per calendar year. So when January comes you get another 12. We do get a discount on buying passes, but I don't think I know a single person who has had to do that. I still have I think 6 left, and only 6 weeks left on my program, and I've had people visit quite a few times. Not to mention my husband lives here with me and we've gone on a few Disney dates.
Another thing to note is that your maingate pass lets you in to Disneyland as well, should you take a back-to-back and visit there.

This was a really interesting thread :D

This should have its own category of "Information about the CRP" in the forum

I'm pretty sure Maingate passes have been upped to 16 days this year. I can't say for definite seeing as I didn't check how many days were left on mine, but I got told by lots of CM's that I got 16 days!

Definitely do a back to back to Disneyland! You use you Maingate pass, but it doesn't take any days off; their ID system isn't the same as WDW so your cast ID won't work there. Our Family Holiday Passes had photopass capability on the back and the Disneyland CM's had no idea what they were. We had to run around waving them and shouting 'THESE ARE PHOTOPASSES!'
