Ok just a quickie, what are the different positions you can work in in F&B? In my un-educated mind i guessed it would be chippie or waitressing, but obviously not. can anyone enlighted me please xxx
I thought the same Karri, for UK at least! I know in other countries there are others like in Canada they have the popcorn cart... but I thought it was the chippy or the pub for us!
I'm not sure about during food and wine festival I presume someone from the bar will do the beer stand
You will be rotated between Chippy, Seater, Greeter meaning you will have a different role each day, and you may (but not always) be trained on Beer Cart or Stocker. After that you can be put into service where you are a server or go into the bar.
thanks ive been stressing a little about it all, no idea why, im sure with all the amazing folk ill be working with ill be fine!
heh don't worry karri, i stressed out a bit, wondering if i'll be good, get shouted at etc and if we need to stress out when we get out there, we can do it together!
chippy- food running, tills etc stocker- what it says on the tin beer cart podium seating assigning server bar
I'm looking forward to being the greeter and taking bookings. Not looking forward to serving as i'm likely to cack over and drop all the plates
I'd really like to have a go on the bar ;D I've been a bar tender before and I loved it, it's sooo much fun, well as long as you get nice customers! I should imagine it wouldn't be very good tho if you went into work with a hangover......
you have to be amazingly perfect at everything to go onto the bar, just a heads up! You have to know all your spiels, drinks blah blah and just be amazing with guests.
