Hi guys, I have my interview next week (on the 26th in London for the ICP 2008 ) and I have been pondering which jobs to put down on my form when I have to choose a preference.

As far as I can see the jobs you can choose from are: Merchandising, Quick F&B, Full F&B, Custodial, Character, Character Assistant. I have got a bit confused over Operations and Attractions tho - are they the same job or different? ???

I was going to put merch as my top choice but having read loads of threads on here I don't know which to put down - what is attractions like? What sort of jobs might you have to do in Attractions versus Merch?

    Thanks!! ;D

Attractions are the rides and shows...so you could be put on any of those in the parks. Operations can range from Parade Audience Control and Park Greeting to Parking Attendent.

Obviously Merch is the shops... so there's a big difference between Merch and Attractions!

Oh right so they are separate jobs! (Attractions and Operations). I know that merch and attractions aren't really comparable but I'm just thinking about what I am more likely to get because I really want to be in the parks (like everybody else!) but I have 2 1/2 yrs retail experience which makes me think that I would be more likely to be placed in merch!!

You know what this is? It's overthinking because my interview isn't til next week and I am working myself up already, I'm so excited! ;D

Attractions used to be under the name of Operations but now they are split up into:

    Main Entrance Operations
    - helping guests at the ticketstyles
    - working in the parking lot
    - selling tickets at downtown disney or water parks
    - parade audience control

    Attractions
    - crowd control at shows
    - working on the rides
    - parade audience control
    - working at the children play areas

Also keep in mind there aren't usually as many positions availible in attractions

So do you reckon I should put down Merchandise top instead if I am more likely to get a job that way? ???

hard to say, people here (in Canada) say they don't care too much about what you want to do and make you an offer either way but a friend did get called back in when he put attactions first and they asking if he didn't mind doing anything else

I don't know how that works in different countries and on different programs, but if they like you they'll offer you what they have available. When I applied for CRP the first time I had f&b as my third choice but I ended up getting an offer for that position...

  9. Yeh they just tend to give you what they have left or what they think you will be better at. Like I put merch and custodial down but jeff (the guy who interviewed me) thought that I would work better with some freedom as it is what I have done in my previous jobs. However, since you have a lot of experience in merch then it is quite likely that you may be placed within a merch position. Hope that helps.
