I don't know if you know but the voltage in the us isn't as strong as in the uk so if any girlies out there live there life by GHD's like me ;D, they probably won't work. :(

Last time i went to the us, i took straightners and a travel kettle and neither of them worked properly!

If someone knows otherwise please let me know cos i'm not really vain but my hair is a nightmare without my beloved GHD's!! lol :D

@ erin. They're a make of hair straightning irons in the uk. i'd say one of the best but some people might dissagree with me! if you have problem with hair that's neither straight nor curly, they're a godsend!! :D
GHD stands for 'good hair day'. :)

@ottawachikky: Thanks for that, thats perfect! :)

no probs meels, its really useful cus any time you come to the us again you can use the same adaptor and you can use a US adaptor in canada as well as we run on the same voltage.

Make sure your adaptor is also a voltage convertor!! You'll run into huuuge problems otherwise with anything that heats up. I know of a couple of ppl who learned their lessons the hard way :)

i took my ghd's on holiday and they took longer to heat up but worked fine. Although one day i left them on for a while and they got so hot i could hardly touch the plastic around the ceramic! Not sure they've ever been that hot before!

All our electrical items WILL work with an adapter BUT they will not run as efficiently because US voltage is much less than ours. Our products need more power to run. So a CD player for example wont spin as fast and so will not play. A pair of straightners will work but not heat up as quickly or be as hot. A hairdryer is the same.
BUT like Jen Mac said get urself a converter and they'll all work as normal. Im just buying all my hairdryer & straightners etc when I get to USA.
Now i got the problem of finding an adapter for my laptop! Wanna make sure it works out there else im gonna be screwed!!!

    Hey Liz!

About your laptop...I took my english laptop to the US with me when I studied over there. It worked just fine on a regular adaptor but the only thing was it didnt really charge it up well so I just left mine plugged into the power whenever I wanted to use it and it was no problem!
