So I got hired and I start in early August as a Youth Counsellor on DCL (Don't know which ship yet) so as you could imagine I am full of questions. but first and foremost of my questions is this: Did I make a good descision? Is DCL gonna be "the experience of a lifetime" that everyone says it is? I mean I hear it is good times, but it seems like 10 hours daily, 7 days a week is like a death march ;)

    Also

What are the chances that as a new youth counsellor that I will be able to work the the Teen age group?

What other opprotunities are possible aboard DCL?

I have a lot more but thats all I can think of right now,

Thanks in advancefor all your help

    Hey Smurf,

congratulations. I know how excited you are and remember that I had so many questions as well... For sure u made the right decision but it depends on you if its going to be a unique experience!

I had a few youth counsellors in my arrivalgroup and they didn't know until we arrived the ship what their age-group will be. So, unfortunatly you have to wait and cross your fingers... It also depends on the managers.

There chances to get promoted on board. So if you really want to change deparment und you are interested you can do some "shadowing" and you can ask for a transfer... Sometimes it takes ages, and sometimes you can get promoted after one contract already. I left DCL in January and at that time they had a huge turn-over and many crew members got promoted...

okay CRAZY question....and please dont laugh at me for asking but....I will be starting early august on DCL (not sure shich ship) what are the chances that I can fly back for a 3 or 4 night stay...My friend is getting married at the end of August and I am in his wedding party, I really cant bear to tell him that I cant be in his wedding a month before it happens, but on the other hand I have to get my contract started with DCL...has anyone done this? is this unheard of? Am I crazy?

Just have to know what to expect
