Right, so I'm going to be doing the Cultural Rep program flying out at the end of August. I'm going to be doing Merch. So, my question... Whilst I know since I'm on a Q1 visa, I can't just pick up extra hours anywhere on park, how easy is it to pick up extra hours within the UK pavillion? Since I'm doing merch, will I be limited to just hours that might be free within that? Or is their any scope for picking up hours on the bar? Basically, do we have to stick to just our section of the Pavillion (f&b or merch) as well as having to stay within the Pavillion? I'm starting to think overtime is impossible and I'm gonna have no paycheck left after paying everything out!
hi hayley, im pretty possitive that their is no way of picking up hours in other areas accept the one you were assigned, so merch for you. but you will probably get more hours in the busy seasons. just bring lots of money with you when you go and you will be all set! kerri xxx
It *completely* depends on how their staffing situation is at the time. Your hours will fluctuate throughout the year. You're right in that you can only pick up extra hours in merch. There are weeks when you'll be on a flat 32 hours and that seems like it will never end, then you're on 50 hours and 6 days out of nowhere.
I hope so. I've had no luck getting a job for the summer back here, no-one seems to want anyone just for a few months. So my money situation is pretty dire. Ah well, no shopping for me.
I wonder if there's any banks round here that'd be easy to rob.....? I think I might just have to bribe people into giving me some money for early Christmas and Birthday presents before I go!
Good idea....when people gave me 'going away' presents, I thought they'd be sensible and give me some dollars....oh no, I got a jewellry box.....what is one meant to do with an item so bulky!? MONEY PEOPLE, MONEY!!!
i came with v little money as i had no chance to earn any before i left as i only had 8 weeks notice- and i had 4 weeks of them left at uni! so i got a few 21st bday presents in mony form, and thats what I brought with me. Im HRC which is technically merch, and ive pretty much accepted Ill be broke! Rather that than the stress of F&B though- Id be rubbish at that!!
Definitely yeah! Hats off to all the F&B people, but there's no way I could cope with that! Balance, co-ordination AND being nice to grumpy customers?? *shudder*
