Hi everyone! Just a little question - what exactly do cruise staff do? I've read on dcljobs.com that they call bingo, sell shore excursions and host games and shows. Can anyone shed a little bit more light on exactly what is involved? Many thanks, Ross
Haven't worked on the cruise but when I was on there this was what some of them did: Bingo calling - every day they play cash bingo and basically cruise staff sell the cards, call the numbers and verify winnings. Shows - Every night they do a different themed show in Wavebands (on the wonder not sure what its called on the magic) such as a 70's show where they all dress up and dance and things. On the last night on the 4 night cruise they did a Bar skit in Diversions (which again is called something else on the Magic). They also do like deck parties (jeering the crowds up, getting people up dancing etc). Sell shore excursions - People go on the shore excursion desk between certain times and sell tickets Host games - They do things like music trivia game and things and act as the quiz master They also do things like tours of the galley and bridge (which they did on the Wonder at least) where they talk you through the various bits of each place. They also introduced things like the Napkin folding and towel folding events but these were then done by other staff. As I said I haven't worked on the boat so don't know the specifics but this was some of the things that they did on the Wonder
Hmm, a cruise staff position sounds fun for a performer who just cant seem to make it past the entertainment auditions! So how much can one expect to get paid for such a position? Im guessing you dont need to pay for housing or food?
As a cruise staff you also have a lot of Social duty, you know hang aout at the beginning fo the party to make people dance and all, and yeah you kinda host every activitie there is on the boat during the cruise...nice job but very demanding..but yeah a nice way to cruise and you def get know the pax and the ship and all...i dont think the pay is awesome but wel no housing and no food so it sup to what you ll do with it.
