I know that you will want to work about 40 hours a week if you can. That will leave you with around $100 after rent to spend on food and entertainment. But if your going to want to do anything else like god to a different park you will need to save or work more hours.

Yes. You are right. I will wanna work about 40 hours a week as I wanna cover the cost of coming to HK to the USA to work.
    I wonder if I get 1.5 X US $ 6.25 for OT.

On the IP you are guaranteed a minimum number of hours work each week but this depends largely on how busy the parks are at the time. It may be slightly different with your Visa but you may have the option to work in different areas of the park to make more money and have more hours.

Occasionallyn if the parks are very quiet they have a property wide ban on overtime. Its very difficult for managers to justify the need for CM's to work overtime so you may be limited to working 39 hours max per week.

Having about $100-$150 a week sounds about right to spend on food, entertainment and stuff like that so don't expect to leave with lots of savings unfortunately. I think you'll need find a cheap flight if you want to cover the cost of that with what you'll be making over there and have fun while you're out there.

    Dear Rich,
Thanks so much for telling me about all these. These things become a bit CLEARER to me. I'm so glad that you have told me what I will probably spend per week [ $100-150]. Then, I can have a clearer picture in mind about my expenditure.
On the IP, the minimum hours are 30 hours per week. I wanna ask if the park in summer is quiet. I hope it won't be quiet. I wanna work OT in order to cover the costs.
About the cheaper flights, do you know what airline companies charges the reasonable price [ I wanna choose the company which has LOW rate of casulty or attack. you k now what I mean?] . Orignially, i wanted to take the Cathay Pacific. Most flights I take are of Cathay Pacific. but I hesitated when I heard from my fd that it may cost me US$1700 . DO you have any suggestions?

All flights are safe to go on, its rare that a plane gets under attack, or falls from the sky. Go to your travel agent and ask for the cheapest fare available and you will be fine....the only airlines to avoid are ones that are locally run in midle eastern countries because their standards are not high...but any transpacific, or transatlantic fligh's will be fine and you will be relativly safe on a major carrier....but with any flying you are at some risk..... i hope this helps you out, if you need anymore information i will be happy to help you out as im in travel and tourisn at school (training to be a travel agent)

    ciao for now

Cathay Pacific is a great airline, but if you want to compare prices, check out Singapore Airlines, United and Northwest. Though with Singapore you may have to change airlines once you hit mainland USA.....United and Northwest you can connect right on through to Orlando.

You know, when I was there ('97-'98) we got paid $5.95/hr USD. They automatically deducted $77/week in rent/utilities....I bought groceries about once every three weeks (one BIG shopping trip!)....so do the math....no, I didn't have a ton of money on a regular basis, but I knew that going there. I still managed to have an AWESOME time, because, like in your other thread posted here, there are ways to get around paying full price for things... Once you get there, people will let you in on all the secrets. Don't worry about it..... Over the years there have been thousands and thousands of people who have worked here, and we all survived....you will too.

    Dear Sheena,
Thanks for your advice. You are a nice girl. THanks for offering to help me out. Yeach. I will send msg to you if I need more information about price of air-tickets and hotel.
Wow. YOu are major in Travel and tourism at school. It sounds very interesting. I'm interested in this field. I wanna work in tourism industry after graduation. I wanna work in airline or hotel company.
Yeach. You are right. its rare that a plane gets under attack, or falls from the sky. But pp' still worry about it after that incident happened in 2000. I also agree that the airline of midle eastern countries are not good.
    Thanks for your advice again.

    Thanks for your advice.
Yeach. Cathay is a great airline. I remember it is one of the airline companies which has the LOWEST number of casulty. In the past, every time I flied I took Cathay Pacific [ one of the reasons I took it was that it was a Hong Kong-based company] Singapore Airline charges a very high price even higher than Cathay Pacific. But thanks for your suggestions anyway. I 'll DEFINITELy compare all airline companies before buying tickets.
I wanna choose a DIRECt flight which does NOT require me to get on another flight. I have been to Asian countries ONly. I have NEVER tried to change flight before. I guess I would NOT be able to handle it. I would be confused about all the flights on the electric board. It looks so SCARY in The Amazing Race that travellers can't catch the flight.

Do you plan on working in Disney in Hong Kong after your IP? You can talk to your managers about transferring, but I'm not sure if you can.

The parks get VERY busy in the summers. Because it's warmer (no, make that HOTTER), the parks are open later, and because most schools in the US have a 9-month school year (September-June), in the summer, you will have lots of families coming to visit.

If Hong Kong has any websites like the United States does, look for online fares. They're often cheaper than a travel agent, because you have to pay extra for the travel agents fees I believe, right? Otherwise, you may be able to look at some US sites such as http://www.orbitz.com, http://www.cheaptickets.com, or http://www.hotwire.com
