Courses offered during the Program?

I was just wondering if any of the past ICP graduates have taken any courses offered by the Disney University? I've heard a lot about them from the American students, but I have not heard even ONE ICP student talk about anything of the sort. Are we even allowed to take those courses if they are available during our time there?

There's also things like information sessions and the "Speaker series" when you get to meet and network with a bunch of people from the company.

This would be so amazing to do!

Ohhh I'd be interested in knowing that too! Hopefully we can, if I get in I definitely want to take advantage of everything Disney has to offer.

yeah any cast member cab take part in classes run by the disney university!
the thing is, as an icp, you dont get much time and call me lazy but im only there for 9 weeks so i wanna sit by the pool haha!! i think american college program participants have to take part in a few of them as like a compulsory thing, but im not sure, but yeah if you want you can sign up for them!

That's good news! I figured time would be an issue, but it's still good to know we can! It's definitely something I want to look into if I make it down there.

There's so many important people you get to meet! ;D

Time is the biggest issue for Summer ICP's. Its easy enough to sign up for things on the hub, and they'll particularly highlight classes on things like writing CV's and 'the brand called you' (job interview advice), but if you're there just for the summer, by the time you get settled in, and explore WDW and other theme parks in Orlando, its nearly time to go home, so you don't get the lul to plan these courses unless you set out to from the outset. They're easy enough to get to on the A bus to Magic Kingdom Westclock, but don't know anyone else who ended up going to one of these. The only class I tried to sign up to was a tour of Animal Kingdom, but it filled up during the sign up day before I got to a computer.

If your going to be on the graduate program then you'll be doing your courses at UCF..

I was on the J1 year program, so I did different courses to what the graduate program did..I was there for a year and our sponsoring university was the university of central michigan..

The only one that I can remember of that the graduate program did was a wine tasting one! Just because I thought it was quite unusual..You obviously have to be 21 to do that tho..

What program is it that your actually doing?

I would be doing the summer one, hopefully for 3 solid months. I know it's not much time, but I still want to try and take one if there are any offered.

  9. I don't think there are any courses offered during the summer as they are done through a university and so have to follow the university terms. Just as I was leaving those who were there til now were applying for their courses. However, despite that there are some talks and things which are Disney orientated and are quite interesting.

its more sort of classes in "team work" and "interview skills" or "building up your resume" and these classes are availible to ALL cast members and are held at the disney university which is next to the cast entrance to the magic kingdom
if youre an american cp there are ones that might be more relevant o you degree program that are only for cp's but there are all sorts of classes you can do, IF you're got the time!
