Hey. I'm Em. *waves* I just sent off my CV and cover letter to apply for the Cult Rep program and hope to work in the UK pavillion. I had some questions that I'm not sure where to find the answers. I've done a search but nothing really came up. If someone could help me out I'd be forever grateful. 1. I just had my confirmation email that I'll be contacted in 8-10 weeks about a phone interview. Can anyone tell me when the next batch of phone interviews are? And when the next F2Fs are? 2. Are the Cult Rep F2Fs always in London or are there any in Scotland? 3. I like going out drinking etc but I'm not a massive partier and a lot of the threads I've seen have been talking about clubbing etc. Will I feel out of place if I don't really want to be a hardcore drinker? I don't wanna miss out on the social aspect and I do like to go out and have a good night but don't like the prospect of being hungover every day - not to mention the financial side of that! ;D 4. I'm a bit on the heavy side, do you think that will ruin my chances of getting a place? 5. There don't seem to be that many people on these boards that didn't get a place. Is that just because folk who don't get a place just lose interest and leave or are you not 'allowed' to chat here unless you're definately going over there? I know these must seem like really dumb questions but if someone could help me out that'd be great.
hello!!!! Ok.... 1. i really dont know when the next round of phone interviews will be - after i sent my CV away i was contacted about 2 weeks later and given the date for my phone interview which was about 4 weeks away! i had my phone interview in september and then my f2f interview in November - as far as im aware f2f interviews are usually in november and in march - so hopefully you will have yours in march. There has been a lot of talk about there not being f2f interviews this year untill november but im not sure how true this is - i guess you will just have to wait and see!! 2. I had my f2f interview in Glasgow!!!!! I was told that for the C.R program, they always do interviews in London,Glasgow and Belfast - so hopefully youl be ok going to one of those places!! 3. im not in florida yet so im not sure what the whole clubbing scene is like but im sure its not all partys 24/7! if you want to go out and get wasted everynight im sure you could - just the same as you could stay in/go to the movies/shopping/theme parks etc etc etc - i dont think its a problem at all if your not a heavy drinker! dont worry!! 4. no,i dont think size will matter at all - please dont worry about that ok!!! 5. i know some people who didnt get in..... you are free to post on this board whether you are in or not it makes no difference!!!! Hope thats some help!! Let us know how you get on!!! XXX
Hey there and welcome (and damn you Kerry! I just typed out a whole reply before I saw you just replied)! 1. I've heard that there won't be interviews this time till November not sure if that's true or not. 2. I think it's only recently they've been in Scotland as I know a lot of them have headed down to London for them. 3. It is partys 24/7, but that's only if you want to. You don't have to go out all the time if you don't want to, you'll be in Disneyworld! theres tons of stuff to do there without being drunk! 4. Not at all. 5. I'm waitlisted at the moment but these boards aren't going to get rid of me that easily. We do have people post and then not get through and then stop posting but some of us stay round because we aren't going to give up that easily! Good Luck!
Hi Em, im Ely from Mexico so i cant tell u much about the phone and f2f over there! but yes about the others... 3.- yes, there are party 24-7 but u are free to choose, u will always have someplace to go but free to tell yes or no, even go to the partys and dont drink, or just stay home and rent some good movies and eat pop corns and ice cream. 4.- absolutly NO!, they are looking for culture representing no Super models 5.- well im a clear example! lol, i go to my second f2f on past october and still get waiting list for CRP and waiting answer for H2B (i apply for both) and still here! lol they will not give ride of me so easilly!!! ;D
3 - i wont be partying 24/7 i like to go out and have fun but i dont plan on drinking all my money and theres lots of ways ot have fun down there - theres tonnes of shows, concerts, different restuarants , the parks etc to go to so i wouldnt worry about that. i dont think everyone parties 24/7 i reckon most people reach a balance out there whichw orks for them! 4- im proof that it doesnt! lol i was the biggest person at my interview which freaked me out everyone else there were like size 14 and under looking which worried me but i still got in so i guess it doesnt matter what u look like - besides americas the land of extremes - super skinny and gianormous and pretty much everything inbetween 5- lots of people who dont get places stay on the boards and try again - some leave because they are disappointed. some people lurk whilst they decide to apply or not. i havent seen anyone shushed or whatever for not making it.
I think you'll find a lot of people on these boards get in because they are likely more prepared for the interviews simply by being on the site and reading through others' experiences. ~ Jen
Hello *wave* welcome to the boards!!! ;D Believe me you will have the time of your life!!! It doesn't matter if you will be partying 24/7 2/3 or not at all lol There is tons of stuff to do, you can go to the parks, the movies, Downtown Disney/Disney Market Place, the malls....If you feel like partying there will most likely be something going on in someone's apt. or outside, but it's up to you. I had many roomies and friends and they all had different hobbies and party habits. The reason why so much party talk is going on in the threads is the fact that you can always find a party if you want to. Also so many young internationals live in one place, so that provides for much partying - it's just like College life! Julia
Thanks so much for all the replies guys! I really appreciate it. I'm still waiting to hear back about a phone interview so I'll just have to see how that goes. ;D I bought a book the other day too called Be Our Guest: Perfecting the Art of Customer Service so am hoping that will give me some pointers about what they're looking for in CMs. Thanks again.
I was reading Be Our Guest about a year ago to prep for my interview. It definatly is a good read to prep yourself for the job, if not the interview itself.
Wow, reading all these posts is really bringing me back. I remember not too long ago I was so eager and excited to be heading down to Florida... but I'll be back... someday. But my I can provide a little help and encouragement in the meantime. Like everyone has said, if you wanna party you can, but if you don't then you don't have to either. My roomates didn't drink at all the whole summer, mostly because we were afraid of getting termed. But we all had a blast down there and we still keep in touch and we even recently had a mini-reunion down in Toronto so there's lots of fun no matter what you're into. As for being hired for physical appearances... since I'm a Human Resource Management major, I like to think I know stuff about that and I'm fairly certain that it would be slightly illegal to do that. But you definitely want to be prepared for the interview. Smile, be friendly and be yourself, people can tell when you're trying to fake it. Good luck with it all!
Emi, you can always email yummy jobs and ask when the next round of interviews are, their pretty helpful and will try to let you know, if they are doing phone interviews at the moment i should imagine there could be f2f interviews in March. I havent got a clue if they interview in Scotland always a question to ask at the end of your phone interview! Don't worry about the drinking aspect. I'm not a huge drinker, and i always found someone that wanted to go shopping, cinema, a park or just stay in instead of partying. Weight isnt even considered at disney, and they arnt allowed to discriminate in that way so dont worry about that either. There are some people who are in the process of applying or reapplying it is a long process and there are limited places, its been just over two years since i first applied, and now after doing 2 months last Sept im going back out for a year in april. So its worth waiting for. Any more questions fire away!! Its what the boards are for. Tan x x x
Well I just had a call from Yummy saying that they don't have my email on file - which is odd since I've actually had an email from Michelle. But ho hum. So I assume that means they're going to send me something? I hope so anyways. Did you guys get the info for your phone interview through email?
yes,i got an email with a list of 3 dates and time that they wanted me to do the phone interview and i had to email back to say which one i wasnted, then they emailed me back to confirm it - and that was it untill they phoned me!!!
Turned out it wasn't phone interview dates but information regarding one of their new programs, the Hospitality Management program which I also qualify for. I thought they were bumping me from the original program so just decided to bite the bullet and call Kristen at Yummy. What a nice girl she is! ;D She said that if I wasn't successful with my cultural program application that I can also apply for the hospitality one and that with an unlimited number of places, my chances would be greater. So now I'm pretty happy. Its $1800 but it would be worth every penny if I got to go. Now I just have to see if anyone else is doing that.
Hi Emi! Is this the 8 month program you are talking about? Which work locations do they offer? thx Chrissi
Its the 6 month one? The one they're talking about here. The PDF says you can be working in any of the parks, hotels or water parks. If you'd like the PDF I was sent by Kristen I'd be glad to forward it on to you. But the closing date is Friday if you're interested.
Oh yeah just realised I have the pdf here as well and it's six not eight months. I was just curious if they would offer the old Int. Hospitality program again( which was up to 12 months). I'll be working at Guest Realations from Sept on. Maybe I see round there. Good luck with the whole application/ interview process! CHrissi
Oh wow that would be my perfect job there - working at guest relations! Unfortunately I only speak English. Anyhoo, maybe if I get in i'll see you there.
