    Hey

    2 questions: -

does the international college programme count for like a year in industry? Does it give you credit towards your degree?

can you apply if you are going to do an msc and have deferred entry?

    Thanks!

i'll try and answer the questions but they may not be right!
I don't think it counts as a year in industry because UK people can only do for a couple of months during the summer. And it doesn't give credit to your degree (i think it does if you were at an american education place!). But you ave to do 3 compulsory lectures.

Not sure about your last question, but in the email it said you have to be between academic years on a full time course.

    :)

yeah you only get to do 3 months but i think it's different for American Students!

i'm not sure how the "college" part of it works when you get there....i think they're gonna make us do some sort of lectures!! xx

Could you not do the year program as your year in industry - I would have done that but I didn't know about tll afterwards!

Hi i can help a bit,
I originally didnt know about the one year program and last september contacted yummy about doing the college program. I asked the question could i do college program if i was going straight from graduating from my undergrad before going to do my mba and they said it wouldn't count - they implied it was between years on the same course. Check with them though it could have changed since.

In america the college program is for a semester and like Stu said they have to do classes and most US unis give it accreditation.

    Good luck

The question has sort of already been answered but I'll add my bit as well just to help if I can

If you work in Disney as an international then you will be part of the Cultural Representative Program which is a year long program. This program uses a Q-1 visa and has not requirements for anything such as being a student (I think there is an upper age limit though) but doesn't offer anything such as course credits. I used my year in Disney as my work placement year for my degree in Hospitality Management but this was a work requirement rather than doing any extra academic work while I was there.

If you do the Summer Program (which is only 3 months) then you work on a J-1 visa. The requirement for this is that you have atleast one year of an academic course to complete. There is also a limit on how many J-1 visas you can get so use it wisely.

    hey

as part of my degree in tourism management we are required to undertake a mimimum of 12 weeks of working placement, be it paid or unpaid.

I am getting modular credits on my degree because i have choosed to take the sandwich option and do a year and 6months of placements- this gives me credits on my degree by the university of wales so i have to do less modules when i return to swansea in my final year but then again, every uni is different so it might be best to check with ur course director

Actually, we don't have to take classes. We have the option of taking them. And I don't know how many schools give credit for it, but at the school I go to now (I transferred from another school) you have to make some kind of arrangement to have it count as independent study to get credit. One of my friends is doing that. She has to take 3 courses and write 5 papers for her independent study course.

University or Institute of Higher Education.
    2. Not be in your final year of study & be between academic years.
    3. Be able to arrive in the US between Mid May and June 6th latest.
