Does anyone have any information on the college program? Just wondering cause some people have been talking about it and i'm curious :-\ Is it open to people from the UK? What do you do? How old do you have to be? I'm not old enough for the International program this year but i'd love to go to Orlando and be a lifeguard or something (at least i'd get a good suntan ) Mhairi
Hi I have a question about the program too, kinda the same as what Mhairi asked, what jobs were you able to choose to do? On the official website it says Costuming Culinary Assistant, Cook II Culinary Assistant, Baking & Pastry Custodial Entertainment- Character Greeter Entertainment- Character Performer Full-Service Food & Beverage Hospitality Housekeeping Lifeguard Merchandise Operations Quick Service Food & Beverage Quick Service Food & Beverage-Kitchen Only Recreation Resort Hopper Role Hopper Transportation Vacation Planner but in an email yummy sent me they only listed about 3 or 4 job areas??
Stu, any chance you can email me that info that Yummy sent you? please I looked on the website too but there was not that much info there. someone must know something though. Mhairi
Yeah just got it now! Thanks What does it mean "Not be in your final year of study & be between academic years." Does it mean that you can go between your Uni years? i.e 2nd and 3rd or 1st and 2nd Mhairi
yea, i think that is what it means... in other words you need to be going back to uni after the program and need to have been at uni before you go
Yeah im pretty sure it means between 1st and 2nd or 2nd and 3rd, cos i graduate this summer and wasnt allowed to apply. Its worked out great cos im going for a yr! My friend who did college prog had a job where he walked round MK talking to people i think?! Good Luck guys! xxx
Hi guys Well im 20 from glasgow and i fly out on the 31st may to do the int. college programme im in my 3rd year at uni and im allowed to go cause im going back for a 4th year to do my honours. I will be doing quick service food and beverage but dont no which park - that will be assigned wen i get to florida, at my interview you got the choice of food and beverage, merchandise, lifeguard or custodial (cleaning the park) hope ive helped and any other questions just ask! Jo xx
Hey Jo How did you get your interview? Was it through Yummy? If i wanted to leave in June 2006 when would i need to apply? Sorry for all the questions, just in a really curious mood Mhairi
Dont wory about it Mhairi! I sent my cv to yummy in october and had my interview in november and im leaving may 31st. I contacted yummy last june and jason told me 2 hold off till october so i would say probably sept / october?! Yummy are super helpful Jason and Alexis are really nice and help with any questions Jo xx
Hi jo, When you say you had to choose which job you wanted did they ask for them in orer of preference or just took one role down that you wanted to do?
Oh, and another question (sorry ) did they say you would be working in a park or anywhere (like doing food at a hotel or selling stuff not in a park) i have read different things. ???
You put them down in order of preference 1 - 4 f & b was my 2nd choice - but just so glad 2 b going at all!!! Im doing quick service f&b so im pretty sure ill b in a park but i'll have a wee look at the wee pamphlet i was given and see exactly wot it says for you Jo xx
First was to be a merchie but no matter!! And the official line in the disney pamphlet is "flexibility of job assignements is a key requirement, as you may be exposed to various Guest service locations throughout our Resorts of Theme Parks" Jo xx
Think i'll be applying to this when september roles around.. It might make up for the disappointment of being told i wasn't old enough for the International program this year Where did you have your interview Jo? And do you think it matters if you have any experience? I mean like work experience Also where did your interview take place? Was there many people there? Mhairi
My interview was in Aberdeen which was the last one they were holding there was meant 2 b about 60 but only about 20 - 30 turned up. I left the house at 4 in the morning 2 get there! think they were quite impressed by that cause it was snowing as well! Ive been in my part time job for 3 years in a callcentre and i just talked about how important customer service is - think they look at every1's situation and characteristics individually Jo xx
hi, i have another question... what is the application process like? is it like the IP where you get an phone interview? What type of questions were you asked on the phone interview (if you had one) and face to face one.. thanks ;D
hey stu, Well i sent away my cv via e-mail then i got a phone call to arrange a suitable time for the phone interview, my situation was a wee bit different in that one of the actual disney recruiters (Julie) held my phone interview i've heard from others that either Alexis or Jason do it. Alexis then phoned me the next day to make arangements for the face to face as it was only 2 weeks later. They send you out a pack with details of the interview and what to take with you - photocopies of your main passport page etc etc Then at the face to face you are given a presentation by the recruiters and it gets you soooo excited! Then they have a disney trivia quiz and people who get the answers right get wee gifts! then they tell you what time your face to face will be. I dont think there is any strict set of questions they ask - Julie asked me pretty much the same as i was asked by Wayne at my face to face. Its more of an informal chat than a proper interview! I'll try and remember the exact questions, but to be honest the adrenalin was rushing! Jo x
