Does anyone know what our disney discount will be? And is it the same amount of discount for food, merchandise etc?

    Cheers!

it is 20% off merchandise and during november and december (apart from thanksgiving week and christmas week) you get 40% off merchandise

cant remember for food and beverage tho wat the discount was.........

and at christmas you get a cast celebration booklet which gives you vouchers for free popcorn in mk and free fotos etc, its a neat lil booklet... and i think there are vouchers in that booklet that give u a 50% discount at various restaurants in disney resorts and parks, u each get one booklet and if u attempt to use spare 50% vouchers for restaurants with you ID card more than once it shows up on a system and u can get termed for it, it happened to a girl who ate in germany one time while i was there, no ideas wat nationality she was??? u can get away with it sometimes but its very difficult

its not a bad thing to not be there at christmas time... i sobbed for hours on christmas eve cos it was the one time i felt homesick, cos for me christmas is more about family and my homeland traditions rather than just wanting to be somewhere for seeing some guy dressed up in a mickey mouse suit that happens to be christmas style.....

there were only 3 times in my year at disney that i really regretted having gone out there, my first time was wen i arrived back to my apt after my throw in, i took one look at mysef in the mirror, looked around the empty room and the suitcases waiting to be unpacked and just threw myself on the unmade bed and cried for a while, and the other 2 times, well one was a family bereavement but i got to go home for a week anyway, and the other.......was christmas...... i cried and cried, and although it was nice and kinda novelty to have christmas dinner with loads of random people, part of me did miss home so so much.......sounds stupid probably and i know i have plenty of christmasses to come with my family and have had many before, it still makes you feel like that.

yeh cast discount was wonderful.......... 40% off everything at crimbo was fab!! and even getting 20% off was great too the rest of the year! love it

I read somewhere else that we have to wait 3 months to get our discount, does anyone else know about this or is there any limit to how much we can buy? I have plans to spend my paycheques....

Discount for merchandise and food is immediate. The only thing that we have to wait 3 months for is our maingate pass to get our friends and family into the parks.

Thought I'd add one more discount.... The Disney Stores in north america offer WDC cast members a 30% discount. Since the stores were purchased by The Children's Place last November, everyone now gets the same discount. WDC cast still get the discount in the stores, but store CMs don't get discounts at WDW anymore. It's sad really... I used to get 35% off at the stores and at WDW and it was sad to see the store CMs go from 20% to 30% and those of us who had been there for years and had our 35% drop to 30%. It was more the principal behind it. Sorry.. for the mini vent.

yeh wen you get to wdw your disney ID will be white at first witha red band accross it and no photo on it, but then once you get your proper social security number etc you will go and have your foto for your disney id in the commons and then a few days after your ID will be ready to pick up from the international trailer over at cast services in epcot...

however if you are on the 3 month college programme then you will not get one of these yellow I.D's with your foto on it, you will remain on the white ID cards....... man i still remember all the different codes for ID 04 for white I.D's 06 for yellow I.Ds.....lol

its nice to get the yellow I.D's cos then you feel a proper cast member!!!

I've got a thing to add about the discount... its not for all food places. In quick service, you don't get a discount, except this one place at Animal Kingdom that has a marvellous chicken salad... Yummy! For restaurants, you only get a discount when you eat lunch, not dinner or breakfast, unless you have the 50%-voucher-thingy...
For the hotels as well as the cruise, I believe you get a 50% discount.... I'm not sure about this, so any more recent CMs might be able to fill in on that.

It's a cast member only board on a website, www.disboards.com. You have to email the webmaster in order to get access to it. Being a CM at the Disney Store, I joined the board a few years ago.

I shopped til I had spent all my money. I bought so much stuff that I don't have room for it back home. I've had to put stuff in boxes in my parents garage until I get my own place!! It's going to be like Christmas when I get to reopen those boxes!!! Thank goodness that my parents drove down at the end of my contract and drove my stuff back to Canada!!!! Use the 40% at Christmas to buy yourself something expensive you've always wanted!!! I bought myself a $300 cell in the Art of Disney store! It's my prized possession!!!
