In program outlines on this website it said something about the education portition being waht you make it.. what does that mean??! Are there optional course avalible? please help much love mes amies du disney Kim
uuuh..I think maybe they're referring to the classes you can take at Disney U. They're free, all you have to pay for are text books and other materials and I believe it's anywhere from general hospitality courses to languages to culinary. I'm going to take french and finish up my Japanese.
does any one know the web address of the Disney University? really interested to have a look! Charis x
I don't think there is one. As it's only for Cast, information is only published on the Cast Portal (an intranet).
i was told there aren't language courses...as i was hoping to keep up my studies this way...but julie said there was only english as a foriegn language. which sucks...i'll just have to get all the spanish speakers to help me practice
Thats odd, I asked and was told that in The Learning Centres in each park (not Disney U) that you can borrow language course, like the recorded ones you listen to I think she said? Colin
If all else fails I'm just going to drive my roomates nuts trying to learn their languages. I speak some French now (it's pretty rusty). Spanish and German are next on my list ... eventually Japanese.
*nods* I'm gonna try for one of those German flag attachments for my nametag saying that I speak German... Just hope I havent forgotten it all :-\ KC
I talked to Tessa, who is there right now. She's the the learning centres are incredible, very high-tech and up-to-date and she did mention about learning languages other than just english. I've searched many times for a website and couldn't find anything, I did however steal this from John's site.
are these classes only for people in the cultural rep program or can people in the college program take them as well?
Language classes that exist will be open to all CMs. There are no classes that exist only for cultural representatives.
That sounds really interesting but if u think about it ur gonna be working a full time job.. thats why we're there!! id love to learn loads too but i think it'll be difficult to do it!! maybe im wrong i prob am!! I really wanna get as much out of this as i can!! Mike
*shrugs* I guess you have to find the time ... I've been a full time student with two part time jobs for quite awhile, it's an exhausting challenge but I love it. (like I said in another thread, I'll sleep when I'm dead) That being said I should go study.
It has been some time since I visited the hallowed halls of education so this will be a FANTASTIC opportunity for me to get some classes in!! I am SO looking forward to being able to get some studying in!!! ;D
If cultural reps can take classes, then that's awesome! I'll go do that once I've graduated... As far as knew, I though classes were only available for US students doing the WDW College Program. but if you can do it as a cultural rep, you may want to check this site out: http://www.wdwcollegeprogram.com/sap/its/mimes/zh_wdwcp/students/education/edu_syllabi.html They have descriptions of some of the courses they offer. As for me, I'm going to try and find out as much info as I can while I'm down there to see if I can coordinate finishing my degree there! Hope this helps!
IPs generally can't do any of those courses (except the CIILPS course and the odd other). It's the Disney uni ones you can take. The probelm for IPs who want to do courses is that your schedule WILL NOT be worked around any courses. And if you miss classes due to your schedule, you are responsible and may not pass the course. :-\ Mike is spot on. Technically the IP has no "official" learning programs. Hence, schedulers won't work around classes for IPs (CPs yes, don't know about ICPs :-\ ) It's just what you can squeeze in. :-\ Which to be honest guys, is really not gonna be much. :-\ That's the one annoying thing about being an IP; you're a CP when it suits Disney (i.e. grads) and not a CP when it doesn't. Lol! : ;D JMHO. Ona x
