I heard that the College Program kids get to attend some classes and lectures while working at WDW. My question is...do us CRPs get to attend some classes too?
I know Traditions takes place at Disney University. I'm pretty sure that during the program you have to attend the Disney University, too. I read somewhere about a UK F&B CRP, that she had a day at Disney University learning about all the different types of wine. I think it's more work-orientated than educational
There is Traditions, then between 2-3 days at Disney University doing service classes (including the one learning about wine) and that's about it. If you get asked to become a trainer there is a morning to get that but that isn't always at DU, I had mine at The Boardwalk. There are no extra optional classes, just things you have to do that relate to your role.
Most of the CPs are doing their program for school credit so are required to take courses. There are some interesting courses and backstage tours available to take that any CM can take. I know they have a backstage tour of the Haunted Mansion and Expedition Everest and there was some more Disney heritage type courses. All the info for that is available on the HUB when you get down there.
I'm not sure if you can take classes on the CRP. I took three classes when I did the J1A (Leadership Speaker Series, College Program Practicum and Experiential Learning) but I had to take classes to comply with visa regulations. The best thing to do would be to go to the Education Office at Vista Way and have a talk with them. If you are allowed to take classes then they can help you sign up, though you may have to pay to take the class. You can however sign up for 'classes' at DU. They're not really classes but you get to learn things about Disney and leadership and a whole bunch of other stuff. You can sign up for these at Disney Learning Centers and on the HUB.
they for sure have 'classes' you can take on resume writing, interviewing skills and on making contacts within your field. I'm not sure what else CRPs can take besides what Louisa mentioned!
You're open to take nearly every class i believe. They offer a bunch of things.. prep for interviews, resume building.. all those things.. to ASL.. diving.. really random things. They'll be a list when you're down there on a website. I've heard they're quite fun, but you're required to do a lot of studying and all that stuff. And like they said above.. you'll do Traditions, your Service Class, your I Can Make A Difference Class, your Safety In Motion Class and if you make it to being a Trainer then you'll do you're Train the Trainer Class.
