Hi everybody! I'm just wondering....I know some of us might have to work during the christmas holiday...can someone please tell me how that is like? Are there lot of people visiting the parks on christmas day and new year evening? Are there any special events on these days?
chritmas day is the busiest day - i went to magic kingom one year and we got there at 9am and they were jus closing the gates cos it was already at full capacity, im guessing all of the staff will be working cos it will be so busy and they do have spacial events i think ;D
What special events do you think Kelly? I think it could be nice to celebrate christmas in Disneyworld...alle the disney characters remind me about christmas But on new years eve, I would like to go to New York...but I guess that wouldn't happen if it's that buisy?! ???
i doubt it but u can ask - well in magic kingdom they have mickeys very merry chrismas party - it happens afterthe park closes and u can only get in with a special ticket - there is only a certain amount of ppl let in (like 500-1000sh) and then all the rides and stuffare open, photographers take your pictures with characters that are walking aroung etc and there is a special nighttime parade and show down mainstreet and also it snows all the time when your there to - its really cool - i dont know what the other parks do tho? ;D
New Years in New York was a blast! My friends and I went there this past winter for New Years Eve. It was like a huge street party. BUT..if you do go, be prepared to wait a long time. We stood on Broadway for 9 HOURS waiting for the ball to drop at midnight...I'd say, ask your manager if you have the time off, even if you don't think you have a chance. There's no hurt in asking....
NYE in Epcot was the best night of work I'll ever have probably. The atmosphere was great, everyone was happy and there was even an unofficial celebration in the streets of the UK Pavilion at 7pm! I on't ever forget that. Then our managers covered the shops so we could go outside and watch the Epcot fireworks, made especially for the evening. Dan
Thanks everyone....Now it doesn't seem to be too sad working during christmas holiday... The only thing I'm gonna miss however, are our familydinner :-\....but I have rest of my life doing that
Christmas at Disney is fun!!! It's hard to be away from your family and everyone struggles with that...but...you do things with your new family. Disney has the events that they hold in the parks...Very Merry is fun...they have Candlelight and Treelighting at EPCOT...lots of stuff. Everything is decorated and so beautiful...well...except for Canada...we had moose antlers and fish on our garlands!!! You'll decorate your apartment with your roomies...and lots of countries get together and have big dinners. I worked Christmas Day and LOVED it!!!! You can have so much fun. We had lots of guests give us little presents like chocolate and one family gave little cards that said about us making their Christmas magical. I thought it was so sweet and is one of my fav things I have from my year. As for New Years Eve...don't even bother asking for it off. EVERYONE works. If you are lucky (ie. seniority) you may get to work the late shift and be there for midnight. Otherwise you have to go back to the Commons, as you aren't allowed to be in the park and if they find you, you get termed because it's so packed. We were allowed to shut the shops at about 5 mins to 12 so we could all go outside and see the fireworks. We all stood on the steps at the entrance to Canada (which was funny cause we'd just spent the past 5 hours keeping people off them!!!) and cheered and cried and hugged each other. It was really special. People weren't so festive that night though. Lots of drunks and it was wall to wall people on the promenade...horrible. There was a fistfight on the promenade between the UK and Canada! They have the fireworks at I think 7 and midnight...so after 7 all the guests in the UK came to Canada and all the ones in Canada went to the UK and there was a huge traffic jam. We had to be traffic directors. I still had the best night. Shan
i worked in rose and crown pub 4 millenium celebrations.was in work at 7am new years ev morning . the park was understandbly heaving jam packed all day and night.Celebrated new years at 7 pm like dan already said. got out the park bout 2am i think.was completely shattered. But wouldnt have had it any other way as all my friends from all over epcot were working too.we all headed back to the commons and had a new year party in the big car park. It was a great night, needless to say quite a lot of people had a few points on their records as nobody could be arsed working on the 1st !
I love Christmas at Disney World, it's soo much fun!! I'm flying out on the 22nd December for 2 weeks!! We always go to Magic Kingdom at 7am in the morning on Christmas, don't they usually have the Christmas parade on an American tv station..possibly abc?! Sometimes the queues can be fairly short in the morning because most people are more bothered about getting on tv than going on the rides!! I've never been to any other theme park at Christmas so I can't say much about them but I'm sure they are equally packed!! Even though the crowds are huge I bet Disney World is a great place to be working on Christmas Day and New Year!!Â
I can't wait for christmas, I know I will miss my family loads, but this is the first year I don't mind working lol Chris you will have to come and say hi, I will be working in merch when you go!!! ;D Helen x
I think christmas in disney would be fab, If I'm not going to be home then I hope I'm working, I'd love to work christmas day and do the late shift new years eve, yo would want to drop from all the work but everyone would be in such a great mood. Somehow I don't think I would have the seniority to get the shifts but I guess we'll see when the time comes.

Wow Chris do you go to Disney every christmas? i bet thats wicked, ive only ever had xmas at my mums with the usual stuff, big family dinner, pressies etc. Where do you open your presents?
Hate to burst your bubble, but the parade that airs on Christmas Morning from the parks is actually taped WEEKS before...usually around the first week of December. Cast members often get to be in the parade too, if you're lucky. The park is just too busy on Christmas Day to have all the camera equipment and stands set up that day. They do have the (pretty much) same parade during the holidays (at the Very Merry Christmas Party). Shan
