Hey guy! Im applying for the cultural program just waiting for the results from my phone interview in the UK, but ive got a massive musical theatre background. Does anyone know if there is any chance to transfer or do any performing in the parades or shows in the parks? ???This would be my absolute dream job, but no one seems to know anything about it! Danni xxx
i think that the visa we would get only allows us to work in our own countries pavillion... as far as i know anyway :-\
You can still live the dream in Paris though... Seems to be nothing but British people doing the character/parade work there - sure, it's cold and rainy and French, but essentially it's the same jobÂ
You can be a Character Performer in Paris, or in Florida on the International College Program - which is for the summer only, and which only current students are eligible for. Cultural Reps, as Princess Jilly said, can't; the Q1 visa only allows you to do roles "representing" your country, sadly.
yeah you can do entertaining/performing, but it's a different program I think and I'm not sure if its open to outside applicants. Go to http://corporate.disney.go.com/careers/auditions.html for information on auditions for various different parks xKx
That's for US peoples! The ICP this year does have Character Performers on it - but ICP is summer only and for students, separate from Cultural Rep (year long program). A
Sorry :-[ I thought anyone from any country could apply for character/ents as it is a specialist section...my mistake I know that DLP does hire from the UK as a girl I used to dance with is a dancer over there Hope this helps xKx
It would be nice for these speciality things to be open to all...! DLP hires from the UK; the contact is MARKUS.STROHSCHANK@disney.com for anyone who's interested! Andy
Yeah, thats just characters and parades, don't know how easy they are to get into, I am sure someone here can help though!
There is a ridiculous lack of information on it, for some reason. When I e-mailed it seemed like it was best to apply six--to-nine months ahead of when you want to be there. So I'm thinking of applying about October time.
But SW is a face character...so I'm presuming you need to be able to speak Frnehc. Hmmm....I wonder....are the DLP face character bilingual? Anyone know?
I knew a girl who was Mary Poppins (some boast eh?) and she didn't speak a word of French. I think it depends if the face characters are being let loose into the public or just sat atop a parade float. Don't think Mary Poppins was much in demand for other duties! Sorry to see the ridiculous lack of information from Paris extends to every job going... Andrew
Hi Tessa, I wouldn't say it is impossible, but very difficult for you to get a position at DLP. Being a member of the European Union in theory makes it easiar for us to get a job at DLP if we are not in France, but for you as a Canadian, it would mean getting work visas for it, and to be honest, unlike when applying for WDW, I don't think DLP are going to make it as easy and I doubt very much you would get the same level or support, also Andrew will be able to give you more info on this than I can, but from what I understand even if on a temporary contract, there is a maximum length of time you are allowed to stay in Disney accomodtion in Paris, after then you have to make your own way! Like I say, I am not saying its impossible, but I think there'll be a lot more hurdles thrown in your way. I don't even know where you'd start looking up how to get a visa to work in France??? Colin
Hey, Can understand why Colin said what he did and a lot of it's true. But there are quite a few Canadians at DLP - though admittedly I don't remember (m)any who weren't Quebecois. Most of the ones I met were in jobs like attractions/ticketing, where some French is needed. A lot seemed to come over just before the Summer, so there's a chance that there is some kinda proper programme being run. As for the housing, you're supposed to only be allowed 6 months there, but I was into my 7th before I left and never heard anyone complaining. Someone had been there for 2 years, didn't even work for Disney after the first few weeks and everytime you walked in the apartment it was pretty thick with the smell of drugs : Also my first housemate didn't go to work for 3 weeks, then when he finally did he was sacked within an hour, yet stayed another fortnight before he was taken to a mental hospital. I guess after Florida, there are some things you'd appreciate a lot more, and others quite a bit less Andrew
