hey guys right my first post of the day.,,, impressed i bet! i was just wondering my parents are coming out in september to see me, i was wondering if we can get discounts for them to rent cars for the duration of their stay or not? and if so how much do we get off the standard rate? just wondering cos my dads been on at me about it as he gets impatient wantin 2 book any help is good cheers me dears xxx
I don't think we can get discounts, because those companies are independent from Disney. If you want to make sure, have someone that's currently down there fill you in.
Hey Sara! WE would get very cheap deals from a place nearby the Commons ( don't remember if it was because we lived at the Commons or just cheap deals in general ). One of my roomies once got a car from there. Wouldn't recall the name though. Just ask someone ( you know a bunch of people ) who is in Florida already for it. Other than that one place we wouldn't get any discounts. And the one discount mentioned would only be working for yourself I think. Julia
i remember reding on here ages ago about car hire - someone said cos u work for disney u get a cast member discount on rent a car place nearby the commons but as far as i know that probably wouldnt include familys tho???? not sure on that one sorry xx ;D
you could always book it in your name but have your dad/mum as a driver on it, one way of getting around it! Bry
thanks everyone yeah thats one way bry, but i was thinkin if its no cheaper they may as well book it themselves etc, one reason y i asked as have a goodish deal, probs end up bookin that for them for september in nxt few days anyway xxx
Also, if you were going to try to book it in your name, if you're not 25+, most places won't let you. I don't know the reasoning behind it, though
Most companies will rent to you as long as you're 21 and have a valid credit card. Usually, they will charge you a young drivers fee per day if you are under 25. I'm not sure about the discounts, but I remember that National Car rental used to give out discounts to cast members. They are (or at least used to be) the official car rental company of WDW and I'm pretty sure that you could rent from many of the disney resorts. As someone already said, if you do get discounts, they would probably only be for you, so you would have to go rent it for your parents and then put them on as additional drivers. I'll see if I can find out for sure about those discounts. I'm still part of a cast member board from when I was a TDS cm. Sandra
Guys I seriously think it is way cheaper to do it the regular way. Especially when you are under 25 it won't pay off at all. The car rental places always have some good deals on and your parents would probably want one where they can just pick up the car from the airport as well and not search around the Commons to find a place. I have to agree that it would be cheaper to just have your parents rent it. You'll have to pay the underage fee and an extra driver fee. You could probably get a better deal off the internet or whatever. The car rental company on property only rented to over 25s. But gave wicked deals for cms over 25. Too bad my bday was a couple months too late! Shan
