Hey guys. I just applied for the CRP tonight. I just got back from Disney doing a ICP this past summer. My question is, were Canadians able to get any time to possibly go home for a few days? And could you do it more than once? Even though I didn't want to leave after my three month program I was itching to see my family/friends/pets and I don't know if I could go a whole year without seeing them (family/friends could visit but pets can't ). Was just wondering how you guys dealt with it.
My friend did the CRP back in 2007 and she managed to book enough days off in a row to fly back to England to see her boyfriend/family and then get back again. I think she had about 3/4 days at home and that's a LOT further than Canada!!
Yes I heard you can be able to have like 3-4 days too! It is not a lot but if you have some money it cant be enough to see your family for a short time
It's really easy to book what are called "back-to-backs" which is where you change your regular days off one week to roll into the ones the next week. For example, for most of my contract my days off were Sunday and Monday. I could arrange that one week instead of my regular days off, I want Friday and Saturday so then I have Friday through Monday off. You also accumulate extra days off by working Holidays. You apply for the days off you want through The Hub online and Scheduling will let you know in a few days if it's approved or not. Some times, even if they deny it, you can print it out, show it to your leader and explain what you wanna do and they can work it out for you. I got married in Texas and was able to get - if I remember right - a full week off, if not even 8 days. If you're in F&B it's probably even easier, because there are so many people that can cover you.
