    Hey guys!

I was calling around today to find the best coverage and most of them only apply if I come back for a hour every 6 months?! Can I get time off from Disney to do that do you think? Also how much are you paying for yours? You don't have to give exact but just a estimate....so I can compare the rates I'm getting.

    Thanks,

    Liz

    Hey Liz!

Did you look at travel cuts? http://www.travelcuts.com/en/03 Insurance/Insurance Rates At A Glance.asp Their rates are pretty decent and coverage is good for a year! I shopped around last year before I needed insurance, and they were the easiest and cheapest and you DON'T still need to be a student and return back to Canada within six months. I'm not sure how easy it is to file a claim though, I think if you have a hospital bill or something you need to pay it and then they re-imburse (sp?) you. (Thankfully I never had to go through the process :))

Hey Liz... I'm going through the same problem, even though they said we really only needed it for 4 months, i'd rather have the protection for a full year...

so, travel cuts isn't that bad, i phoned caa and i was quoted 750.00 canadian for a plan from RBC but i've got mixed feelings on it.  if you're in an accident and need extra attention you'd have to come home kind of thing, so i'm not sure what i'm gonna do just yet.

You only need it for about 3 months and then you get medical coverage from Disney. You won't be without it. I got my coverage from CAA. I think I paid about $240 for it and it is both travel and medical coverage until Disney coverage starts for me on Oct. 1. No need to spend more money than you have to.

    Hey Liz,

I go down the 6th of Sept, I just have insurance right now because I've been living abroad for the past year.

I don't know very much about the American Medical System, (or lack there of!) basically I know any sort of medical attention is reallllllly pricey!

You guys may also want to check out if you can get coverage through a credit card company. I know my parents can get good, cheap coverage through Mastercard and if you don't already have a credit card it would probably be a good idea to apply for one before you leave! (Just in case, ya know? Plus for buying things like cheap holidays online :) )

Yeah, i went to a travel agent for insurance and for me from june 21st to Oct 1 it would cost $175.10.

Why are some of you insuring yourself for the entire year? And what's the problem with HMO?

Well HMO's aren't that easy to deal with. Apparently, they don't like paying you for the insurance coverage that you had to pay for in advance. HMO's typically require that you pay for anything in advance, and then they reimburse you.

IF i am wrong please correct me.

    Thanks.

wwll i did not started to look for the insurance , but ill probably go with the caa , its safe and reliable... i wonder if for example we have to go check for a flu , or just ( i dont know how its called in english) anti pregnancy pills? is it really expensive ? is it worth to put it on your insurance .... well my insurance worries are really for the little things like that ... if you have an ideas on that i would be glad to hear them!

anyways , i will probably just take it for 4 months , dont see the point of paying for 8 extra months if disney does it ... anyway

Manitoba health is willing to let me buy a year's worth of any of my perscriptions and take them with me to Disney. I'm not sure how it works in other provinces, but in manitoba you can request either 6 months or 1 year of medications to take down with you.

I had to let manitoba health know i wasn't going to be living in manitoba for a year, oither wise, my insurance won't actually get paid out.

My caa lady told me all about this. i would have most likely been in the dark about it.

when i spoke with manitoba health, they said i would recieve a letter 10 days before i leave the country and at that point i can go to the pharmacy and fill my perscription.

    Hope this helps.
