Ok I realize this is really hypothetical and far off but...."hypothetically, when and if some of us from Canada get accepted into the program, and depending also on when we would be sent down, would anyone be interested in driving down?" If I get in I totally want my car there, and frankly I wouldnt want to make the long drive down there all by myself, so Im seeing if anyone wants to hold out a thumb and make some extremely tentative plans
haha...well if you want to take a detour to the GTA, and are going anywhere near December...then I would definetly drive down with you! I would love to take my car, but considering its my dad's and its about to fall right apart, I'd say I am most likely going to be flying! I am not sure about farther west...but the drive from my place to Orlando is actually quite nice...with exception to the I-4 in Orlando!
I had planed on taking my car, but to be honest we make next to nothing($). Unless you have parents willing to pay for the insurance on your car it's expensive to keep a car here.
Or if you plan ahead and bring enough money to pay for the insurance before hand it's no issue. I had my insurance, and registration money with me when I came down and even had a little left over. Gas isn't really an issue either because I have to fill up about every 3 weeks and gas is cheeper than in Canada (about 20 bucks a tank cheeper).
Yeah if you can pay it all up front so its not coming out of your disney wages, you would do fine. I only had 6 weeks notice before coming down here so its just not an option for me right now.
Ya the money wont be an issue by any means. Just the issues of who, if, and when. I was thinking a flight from pretty much anywhere in Canada to Winnipeg would probably be pretty cheap (although I guess Disney compensates us for our flights to Orlando anyways) and then we could carpool it from there. Id' have room for 4-5 people plus luggage and lots of leg room. Thought it might be a little more adventerous....and obviously very hypothetical
Flights to Winnipeg are NOT cheap! I think it's so stupid how expensive flights within canada are. I flew there in July for my cousin's wedding from Edmonton - which really isn't that far away...and it cost me a little over $400. I guess One way wouldn't be too bad though...$200?
I was looking at flights from like Calgary to winnipeg and yeah they were like...500 bucks or something. Hella rip off for a 1 hour flight....and last time I checked a one way ticket was only like 50 dollars cheaper. boo hiss! oh well I still think if I get a f2f in calgary then ill drive it and hang out there for a bit...check out Banff and whatnot...and I still totally think Id drive down to Orlando if I got in. It would be totally worth it having a car down there.
I am in Toronto and I also think a roadtrip would be pretty fun to do. I'm way out of the way for you though eh? Plus I don't even know if I'll make it to the program. No phone interview or anything yet. Yeeks! I'm nervous!!
ah dont start getting worried yet Linds...cast-a-way is notorious for sporatic emails and response time. I think it was litterally 2 months between my phone interview and the time i sent my resume in last time I did all this. But hey if we DO pass our phone interviews, and some of us form the forums DO make it past the f2f's then I think it would be a totally smart idea to make some solid plans to get like 2-4 of us together to car pool down there together...although I suppose we would all have to have the same departure date as well...hrmm.. still it would be a blast
