Hello everyone, im just writing to see who all is considering applying to get an interview in Calgary this spring...im from Winnipeg Manitoba and looking to applyto hopefully get a face to face interview in Calgary this spring or fall whenever it is.... So i just thought i'd see who else out there is thinking about it and hopefully get to know some of you for when/if hopefully i can meet you all down in Calgary...... so hope to talk to some of you soon......to all those that are gonna get the call in the next little while hopefully....best of luck to you all... Andrew
Well if I'm not even waitlisted after this last round from Montreal I'll likely try again in Calgary, not sure if it'll be the Spring or fall though.
ya im not to sure either...cause i e-mailed Eric with regards to when the interviews will be in Calgary and he said fall 2006 like around november...but their website says spring 2006 so im not really too sure....
Yeah it could be a typo on the website. I know when somone noticed the spring time interviews on here there was a bit of confusion. From the sounds of it Calgary/Vancouver is always in November, and Montreal/Toronto/Halifax are always in March.
ohhhh the fall seems sooooo far away ......... anyone can help with when i should officially apply??? should i wait till september or do it this summer??? ....
i wish... two more years and ill be applying from calgary!!!! let me know when yall disney nerds are in cowtown... a bunch of people from the forums got together for dinner in montreal (or was it toronto?) and i would be more than happy to tag along with those applying from calgary for some chow.
Yup there was four of us from the Forums who met up in Montreal the night before (all of us from BC/Alberta lol)
And to think I could've made it 5... Oh well, I ended up going to Toronto and it was fun! I'm going this summer, but I may just apply in the fall to go again next summer (can I do that?). Either way, let me know and I would love to meet up with y'all!
Oh ya, When I contacted Eric earlier this year about applying he told me to send a resume in February for the interviews in March, so probably a month or so in advance... so October sounds good! Best wishes with it!
ahhh k cool thanks man have fun down there.... ya cant wait too apply just gettin the resume ready now.... was thinking against going but had a big fight with a girl i really really liked and cared about and well....it helped me settle my decision to go... haha.... anyways cant wait too get the interviews going...
ooh, that's tough... Oh well, everything happens for a reason right? And hey, if it helps you towards making a decision then that's good.
ya definitly did help towards making a decision....and plus hey im sure there are some wicked girls to meet down in florida in the commons if i can accepted to go down their ....thats always a good bonus ... haha...
Haha, well good luck with it all! Looks like I won't be applying again since apparently one can only hold a J1 visa once... oh well... better to go once than never!
The Cultural Representative program is a Q1 visa, not a J1 And I'm pretty sure that you can have more than one J1...
Hello, (My first post here, how exciting...) I have a quick question about the J-1 Visa, for Matt1133 (or any who can answer). Is a J-1 visa required for Canadians that wish to take part in the 1-year international program? Also, where did you find info that you can only ever hold one J-1...I just graduated from university yesterday (yay!) and thought I'd start looking into this seriously. However, I already received a J-1 visa two years ago for when I worked at Stanford University in California for the summer (I am from Calgary AB, Canadian citizen) That J-1 was only good for that summer, but if it's true that you can only have a J-1 once I might be out of luck for applying to the Mouse House. Also, on a side note for anyone's interest, I was in WDW for vacation all last week, and it boggles my mind that the interview process is so long for International recruits because they are desperate for staff down there. Florida is in a big labour crunch right now (unemployment below 2% according to one cast member), and most cast members I talked to said that they could use more people in any positions. Heck, even the Stormalong Bay pool at the Beach Club wasn't open past 8PM nightly because there weren't enough lifeguards to cover two shifts (so they had them working one long shift), and we've visited 3 times before at the same time of year and been able to swim until 11 or 12AM. Lots of attractions were also running only 1 queue out of two, stuff like that...just seems like they could use more bodies right now, so why not hire some keen internationals on the spot instead of making them go through a long process? Much as I hate to admit it, there were even some moments in the trip that were not shining examples of Disney magic due to lack of service or stressed out cast members (thus, could have been prevented). Overall an amazing vacation as usual, though, Everest and Soarin are awesome. Thanks for your feedback, I'm interested in any replies. D&B
Hey, Sorry this has been a few days, I have been so busy these past few days! I think it was said that you can hold more than one J-1 visa. So you should have no problem applying for WDW, the concern for most people is just that Disney's policy is not to allow people to use that visa more than once. I am almost 100% you will be able to do it. The only thing is that if you just finished university, you can only do the Cultural Representative program which is the year long one. But that means you will only be allowed to work in the Canadian pavillion at EPCOT. You can email Eric from Cast-A-Way, he is the procurement ally for WDW. His email is eric@cast-a-way.com Hopefully this helps! Best wishes!
