hey has anyone bought a car over there, coz i would like to buy one but i want to know if it is easy to get hold of one and whether its expensive or not. Also is the insurance a lot, i know its totally different to england.!!!! 8) 8) 8)
Hmmmm haven't bought a car but there's loads here. It's probably a good idea to get one because it saves on having to get the bus to places like Walmart, which is really only up the road but takes half an hour to get there because the bus has to stop off everywhere else first.
hey. i bought a car there. i got a jeep cheroke for $4700. and my insurance was $2500 for a year. insurance is expensive. talk to people there who have already got a car, they can point you in the right direction for cheaper car insurance. but its not going to be cheap cheap. also, the insurance over there is totally different to ours. you're car isnt covered for theft. unless you pay another $1000 or something stupid. if you're in an accident and its your fault, you're injuries and car damage dont get paid for, it only pays the other party(ies). it is extremely weird. the reason for the theft thing is because there are no car crimes in orlando. well, apart from the guy who hijacked a car at walmart at christmas 10mins from the commons, shot the driver, then shot himself later on. crazy. very crazy. i would most definately reccommend getting a car. if you can afford to run it etc, because the wage you get, you cant afford to buy gas, food, and go out etc. there are loads and loads of garages around. i bought mine of a crazy mexican guy on Orang Blossom Trail in Kissimmee. my advice, dont buy a car of a foreign person. they try and do you over because you're non-floridian. the buses: i only went on the buses for like 3 days. those 3 days were hell. i couldnt do it. i hate public transport anyway. goign to walmart on the bus was such a pain, everyones shopping gets mixed up and stuff. id definately reccommend a car!
4700$ for a jeep not cheaper but i' don't have 4700 on my french bank account so i'll rent perhaps when for some days, or use the public transport
I'm personally praying for a roomate with a car for when I need to go to Wal Mart lol. I have this very faint notion of driving my car down there but I really don't think I'm going to do that anyway as I really wouldn't be able to afford to run it.
as soon as i got my car, everyone wanted a lift here, and a lift there. it did take the mick after a while when people didnt give me money for gas etc. so my advice is, dont take the mick and always expect to go somewhere, be generous with money or other favours, then you'll be given lifts to places you want to go.
Just to warn you, there's a *real* lack of public transport in Florida. Nothing like we Europeans are useful. Getting to Disney is fine, as they provide your transport, but almost anywhere else, you're going to have to resort to taxis, sadly!
cool thanks for warning me they made out that walmart was just round the corner a short walking distance from where we live. I think they lied to us a bit. i dont think i will be able to afford a car, can you rent cars or is that just way too expensive? do you live with people that are doing the same work as you or is everyone doing something different?
WalMart is one of the places that Disney provides bus to...hourly service most days...so you don't have a problem getting there!! And there is a Publix supermarket within five mins walk of the Commons/Chatham!
what about the gym is that close? is the access to the internet close by or do you have to buy a computer? ;D ;D
theres a small gym on each complex, and each complex has a learning centre with internet access, but if you want to get a computer, there's access from the apartments too
i think that walmart sells absolutely everything its totally huge iv been told, obviously dont know what publix sells yet, have to wait to find out. waiting ages dont go till august.
Yeah Wal-Mart is huge and you can buy anything there pretty much. They also have low prices. Many people swear by Wal-Mart and buy everything there. Others hate it because it'll move into a smaller communtiy and put all the local shops out of business with it's low prices. I believe it is the largest retailer in the United States.
well good look for when you get one there really nice i went through yummy jobs at uni. im glad they have low prices seems like theres so much to buy when you arrive, like a t.v/ iron etc. is it a lot in a taxi to get there? ??? ???
I'm not sure (as I'm not there yet), however I do know it's pretty easy to get ther on the Disney Bus you just wouldn't want to buy a lot... I also know it's suposted to be like a 20 min drive or less but I'm not sure what the taxi rates are.
i think louisa (disneygibbs) said a cpl of days ago they paid $9 for a taxi back from walmart...so a couple of dollars each dependin how many of ya
walmart is 5 minutes away in a car. yeah about $9/10 to get there in a taxi. the buses are very infrequent from the commons to walmart as well. so you cant just randomly go whenever you want on the bus.
WalMart busses are around 5 days a week, on the hour from 3 till the early hours. You're not hugely restricted on what you can get because you can shove it underneath the bus in the luggage section, but saving a bit of your shopping until someone is driving is never a bad idea
