I know there is already a thread on this somewhere i just cant find it.....sooooo i guess this might be directed a little more to canadians cause im not to sure who else can bring their car...maybe the mexicans ..... anyways anyone know the latest costs of insurance in florida for us??? and for the canadians has anyone heard of anyone in the last while driving their cars down from canada?? seems like a really really long drive but might be worth it....

    thanks for the info guys!

You can keep your Canadian insurance for the first six months while you are down there, so all you have to have is 6 months of American insurance. However if you take like 2 weeks off and drive back to Canada to your permanent residence you could proabably scrap by and not even have to buy American insurance.

Can't help with insurance costs alas, but just wanted to say...

If there is any way you can take your car, take it.

I hired cars constantly down there. So much so, that I plan on buying a car this time (assuming I have any money left after paying course fees :-\ ;D).

Do you need a car, no. But it will make your life so much easier (and more fun :D roooooooad trips! :D). Not to mention, you will have lots of new best friends in next to no time. Lol. ;D

ya im starting to think that it is a good idea if i do get to go down there..... I mean its a 2 day car ride from Winnipeg( where I am) to Florida but it might be worth it.... I could always get a friend to come down with me to help split the driving ;D ;D

    thanks for the advice Ona

Hey , I drove down from ottawa. Unfortunatly to have your car allowed inside the commons you must have your american drivers licence, florida ins and florida reg for your car. if you dont they wont give you your sticker for your window. That is unless you happen to get a not so bright person at the front desk at the commons and they give it to you anyway without all that stuff. If you wanna try that go on a weekend to get your sticker. thats what i did and i have no problems with my car so far and its been 8 months since iv been here.

Hun, I think I'm in a lamer position that you. I have a driver's lisence, I have my own car but I never got around to keeping up driving after I got my lisence and I no longer know how to drive...pathetic, I know.
But Im sure with our cutness of JAM, we'll be able to score rides no problemo! ;)

Having a car here would make things a heck of a lot easier. If you take the buses to Walmart, it is at least a 2 hour time committment, if you have a car, you could be there and back in like half an hour. If you're working at Disney-MGM studios until 2AM, you could get home by 2:15 instead of 3:00AM. Plus, you could visit everywhere else, malls, downton... God I miss my car...
