Booking Hotels for Family

Hii Everyone,

This is probably a bit premature but I'm trying to get some information together for my boyfriend to come and visit me next year and I don't want it to cost him LOADS of money!!

So basically, does anyone know about "The Hub", what offers there are for cast members and family etc. Like for example, what kind of price could I get for both of us to stay in a value, moderate, and deluxe hotel for a week in the middle of March?! Do cast members get any Disney Dining offers?

Any info you guys have would be great! Thank you!!

 

If you get them to wait one more month you can get them into the parks for free. That is all I know. I know a little bit about the hub but not enough to say too much. So I will leave that reply for someone who does know much better.

I know they will get a discounted hotel room with at least whoever you stay with. I believe you can also get discounts (though smaller ones) for people even if you don't stay with them.

Generally we get like 50% off most stuff on you get it on the HUB when there are special offers that are listen on there you actually have to call in to the cast line to be able to book the extra discounts, the dining plans are only offered at certin times and if those deals aren't offered then you can either get the dining plan at a discount or the hotel, I stayed at the carribbean beach for like 60 or something a night with a big discount it was really nice, my dad stayed at all star movies with my discount and it was liek 50 or 60 a night which wasn't bad or so...umm what else.. the discount varies weather or not your stayin in the room if its just you and your boyfriend the rates are actually based on two people so the price doesn't change if you there is one or two people I'm assuming after that it is a bit more...I'm not sure if all this made sense or if there is anything else you want to know but it is always good to plan ahead and get reservations ASAP because what my mom originally wanted wasn't availible when she finally decided...

Hey sorry to gatecrash this thread...

But can we get a week off work? I know we cant get paid for it but I would like a week off to meet my other half (like a dateing service on here hehe). Just last time I went I remeber it being kinda hard...But think a lot of things are diff for CRPs.

Sucks that we have to wait 3 months till we can use our free park passes for family and friends,m but im sure it will fly by!

Yep I've been accepted to work in UK f&b, I'm flying out on 1st December ;D

Sam - I was told by someone who's in Canada merch that we can ask for a week off but it won't be paid, and obviously we'd need to request it off ASAP. So basically, Ben and I are trying to decide on a few dates that he can visit and I will try to get one of them off. Hopefully the flight prices will coincide with those weeks and make it cheaper for him!

Can we seriously not use our family park tickets for the first 3 months?! I didn't realise it was that long! If that's the case, I'll get him to visit me a few weeks later. :-\

Sam, I am indeed at work BORED trying to distract myself!! Unfortunately we can't get facebook or MSN so this is all I have

Ben and I will stay in Florida when he visits. He's never been before and keeps telling me it's rubbish and that Disney sucks (he only does it for fun because he knows I love it so much and therefore gets a reaction out of me!!), so I want to give him a magical week in the world.

I'll take him to all the romantic places like the beach at the Polynesian to watch the fireworks, the beach at the Yacht Club to watch a Disney film, a walk around the Boardwalk...and of course to all the parks! I am SO excited for him to visit, I've never done Disneyworld in a romantic way before :-*

Oh yes indeedy I am now a fully fledge f&b hostess, what I wanted to be originally. So I now have the possibility of working with Little Miss Samantha! lol Seriously, cannot wait until our flight - we're gonna be such hard work for those air hostess ladies (and men) to look after, they won't be able to settle us down!

Are you allowed your phone at work? I might txt you in a bit instead!

Yeah text away ..My works being monitored but i just cant b BOTHERED...Its soooo boring!

The flight will be good. I will be excited but scared at the same time. Im a nervous flyer.Only with turbulance but ive trained myself and im getting better..Im not crazy and cry and have panick attacks or anything my face just looks like ive eaten a lemon!

You have to wait for holiday time to get official time off but when you work holidays and stuff they give you things called floating holidays where you get paid for aday off.. I used them together with my reg days off and have 5 days off in a row to hang out with my dad when he came down.. I also dont think anyway has ever waited 3 months for the family and friends gate pass not sure if that answers everything but i'll be around

 

Hey im really sorry but im a little confused. Can we not request a holiday (7 days off etc) even if we dont wait for holiday time? Such as if i asked for 5 days off withouit pay are they likely to givbe it to you? My brains get a little bit confused at times..its sooo overwhelmed!

You're not allowed to request time off until you've worked out your probation. Actually, you can request it but it will be denied. So that's 90 days and then even after that if it doesn't fit in with them it will be denied. I'm struggling to get one day off in Dec right now, the only way is if I shift swap but I won't be able to do it until the schedule is posted and by then it'll be too late! You can request back to backs and ADO's but again, not in your first 90 days.
A few of us are struggling to get time off!

 

I had heard that once you were done training that you were given your yearly gate passes. Anyone know if this is true?

Sorry for yet more questions about this! I know we'll learn all about how and when we can book for families/time off etc when we get there but I'm just trying to find out info now so I can pass it on to my family and they can plan ahead.

I know that we have a 90 day probationary period but does this mean we cannot use our hotel discounts until after that period? Also are we unlikely to get time off in this probationary period?

For example, I start on the 2nd December 2008 and my 90 are up on the 1st April 2009....I want to request one week off for when my boyfriend visits. This is the only time I am likely to actually request time off. We were thinking of him coming in March sometime before it gets busy for Easter, but if my 90 days probation aren't up until 1st April, is it even worth asking for a week off before then?!

It sso frustrating isn't it!

My parents and boyfriend are coming out for easter..its annoying as my mums booking it soon even tho i have said that i probbaly wont be able to get the time off (mothers)..I think it looks like were just going to have to pray that they will let us have last min time off, but ive heard that the scheduling people arn't very pleasant and dont really care too much about what you want and why...theres goes my begging 4 a week off....Anyway maybe im just being an old pesimist and im sure it will be fine. Worst scenerio our parents will have to book it and if we cant get holiday we just do back do backs.. and it deffo worth it ;D

Ah well, I do have one solution Sam....it will only work if we're not scheduled to work on the same days already though! Perhaps we could cover each others shifts for those weeks, obviously not all of them as that would be loads but I'm happy to help if I can!

Oh no i cant cross my toes..Thank god..I think i would freak out...I noticed when i was watching tv with matt once. He was sitting next to me with his legs crossed (i know...) and had his toes crossed too...At first i thought it was hilarious and then a lil weird...Wish i could do something odd..party trick..the only weird thing i have is massive tonsils...Go me!

Haha, me avoiding work??? NEVER!!! lol well actually it would help if I had some work to do. As I'm just a temp covering for someone's holiday I am only really able to do things when they're given to me and I'm too bloody efficient, I do those things really quickly and therefore have nothing to do!

I have a great party trick, well not so much anymore because they took some out but.....I have metal in my head.....haha yeah, work that one out if you can!! xxx
