I went to the bank the other day and while I was there I asked about my bank account while im over there. They said that my switch card wont work (which I knew anyway) and that I will get charged quite alot each time I take money out of the ATM. I got a Visa card with my student account, which Im planning on taking with me, However it only has a £500 limit on it and I'd much rather spend my wages as they come in, and not get too deep in credit. As im only ICP, the lady at the bank said that she doubts very much that I will be able to open a bank account when im there, due to me only being there for 3 months. Do you guys have any idea what u r doing? Or IP people, Do you know of anything I could do??
Hi Chrissie, I am pretty sure it is part of the programme to be able to open a bank account, where else are WDW going to pay you. I am sure if you have any problems or questions about the banking account your recruiter will be able to help you. But i am pretty certain someone in your first week will come and talk to you about opening a bank account Hope this helps H
Hey Chrissie, an EX-IP told me, that Disney will give you all infos you need. She told me there are two different banks and you have to open an account on the second day there! --Sören
I think you can (and are recommended to) open an account with Vista FCU, a credit union run by and for cast members. More informationay can be found at http://vistafcu.org/ Kev
Vista FCU accounts are indeed available for ICP People - and I still have mine open! You'll never get a nicer-looking Visa Card
Hey all! What's the nice looking visa card? I've opened a nationwide flex account over here cos you can withdraw cash at no extra charge at any ATM in the world! It's the only one that doesn't charge and it's ideal for me as i'm going travelling.
The Nationwide account is a really smart move, it means that if you ever run short of money you can access funds from the UK for free - you get the bank rate which better than the exchange rate too - bonus! Disney do try to make you open a US account over there though (they usually won't pay your wage into a UK/diff natioanlity bank account due to costs involved) - but they'll talk you through all this step by step when you arrive. Alternatively - you can always get a paycheck and cash it every week it that floats your boat!!! I know a merch guy who did that for his whole contract!
Hello everybody, I will open to a bank account in the disney vista federal union, coz I think it's the best bank, I'm french, and I prefere this bank than the other : suntrust I think
Hey guys, I opened an account with SunTrust for a few reasons... 1) They have more bank machines which means fewer fees once you get off Disney property! 2) No fees (provided you don't go into overdraft). Vista has a $3/month fee until you have $1000 or so in your account. 3) You get your account Visa card MUCH MUCH MUCH more quickly. and 4) The guy giving the Vista presentation was kind of rude and discouraged people from actually reading what they were signing. That kind of pissed me off. See you all soon! ~ Jen
ok, in fact i'm always in france, i will be in april in florida, so I will see the best bank but thank u for theses informations u had take in this forum !!!
I opened a suntrust one as well. Partly because it meant I didn't have to go to the Vista presentation and therefore had a day off . But seriously, I didn't really want to pay $3 a month (which I would have had to so far- I've never had that much money) plus there are suntrust atms in like Mall of Millenia and stuff whereas there are only Vista atms on Disney property. On the other hand, the only atm in the Commons (sorry, don't know about Vista or Chatham but I suspect its the same) is a Vista one. The vista bank is on a bus route- but they only go there once an hour - so you end up there for an hour and theres nothing else around, but there are Suntrust banks just across the road from Downtown Disney, and theres one in the Walmart as well.
