are u allowed to be around people drinking, if ur not 21.

i know ur not allowed to drink at all if ur under 21.. so lets assume that for the purpose of this post i WILL NOT be drinking at all.. EVER.. haha (which may happen cuz im petrified of going home)

now.. if i were to be at a party at a 21+ apartment.. or any legal place.. and i wasnt drinking.. at all.. and no alcohol was touching me.. and i was just sitting carefully haha.. but there were 21+ people drinking legally..

would i be in trouble..?

Of course you are..Thats not illegal..Its just illegal if your caught with a drink in your "possession" or drinking it obviously..

Like i always say, i must have said it about 300 times now on here! You've gotta remember if you do drink, its a risk..And realise that you'll be straight on the plane home if you get caught...Nevertheless..If your careful i believe you would be able to get away with it..(Not that i tried it on many occassions while i was there or anything )

 

Erm...actually there were some ppl termed because they were at a party and underaged plus the resident of the apt got termed as well. BUT that's the exception!!!

Don't worry about drinking you'll be fine. I was 19 during my program and got caught twice with a beer in my hand but they never asked me for my ID ;D

 

Yeah, i was guna say, i was at loads of parties that security busted and they just said, everyone who's 21 put your hand up..And everyone with a drink in there hands put there hands up..And then they just went!

 

you gotta learn tho.. my first party was a mexican party... as soon as i picked up a drink security walked in. hahaha

 

gta add a point here, that in general its a lot harder to tell the age of girls than it is lads.....tbh girls get away with everyfin because they can make themselves look older.
I'm not sure whether ill risk drinkin myslf...coz i cant just have a cuple of drinks if im at a party i have to keep drinkin n drinkin

Im not encouraging it or anything, but if your careful you can easily get away with it..But if you can last without it, then fair enough to ya..But i certainly couldn't! Haha..I thought i could, but there was to much temptation around me! haha..

 

I like to drink too much ...I doubt I would go if I was under 21

Official rule, sure you can be there, hell as long as you're 18 you can serve alcohol in the states.

However I've heard enough stories about security to know that just because you don't have a drink in your hand dosn't totally make you safe. The rule in the housing complexes is you can't drink underage, and you can't supply an underage person with alcohol.

Thus if security's in a bad mood/someone in the party pisses them off it's possible they could term underagers/the party hosts.

Not saying this is something I saw, but based off some of the stories I read on here I wouldn't doubt that it would happen. I mean one story on here was about a Canadian getting termed for carrying a hockey stick home. Security deemed it as a weapon and he was gone.

 

Yeah, i know what you mean, security can be in a bad mood some days and a really really good mood other days, it just depends what days its on really..

Like jorden says though it is the luck of the draw if your just there and not drinking..

But remember if you get caught with a drink in your hand, there's no luck of the draw about that, your straight back home..Its not like when your 15 in england and just tell them your names john smith! haha..Its zero tolerance..You'll be on a plane straight home..

 

guys seriously wait till u get over here. u can be anywhere if there´s alcohol that isnt even remotely an issue, and drinking? if u want 2 u can, u just need to be smart. there are also alot of places to go off property where u can drink and they dont id etc, again u just need to be smart about it. security are fine as long as u dont piss them off- my personal recomendation is wait till u get here and all ur questions will be answered at ur throw in-

 

Yeah, i completly agree with that..I thought i was guna go all summer without drinking and then when i got there i just found that you just have to be clever about it and think about the least likely places ull get caught etc..I used to get on mint with security..I thought they were absolute legends..The used to be at chatham as well, so i always used to have abit of banter with them and that..
