Yes. I believe that you need to be 18 by the time of the F2F interviews, but since your 18th birthday would be very close if you weren't 18 by then anyway, you'd probably be all right. You might want to check that by emailing Yummy Jobs, but I'd say you'd be fine.
Okaay thank you i have emailed them ;D How long does the whole thing take, ie. from sending your application to actually flying there? 8)
For the majority of people that applied in January, our first and second interviews were really fast but we are having to wait until June to get confirmation of when we go and it won't be until 2013. So there is a chance of leaving in the same year that you applied but for most people you should expect to wait a year. Disney decide 6-8months in advance how many people they need so it is a lot of waiting but on the upside... plenty time to save for visa/flight (you need to pay your travel expenses) / insurance/rent/ initial spending money/ new clothes.... and money to get through the whole interview process! Its cost me over £1000 just for hotels and flights for interviews in London, add in the cost of food, bits and pieces for the interview, etc and it was A LOT! Although I'm extremely anxious to get out there, I'm also glad that I have the extra time to save! Also... although it says on the Yummy Jobs website to check back in June, theres people who have asked and they've been told that applications won't be done until August. So it seems that if you apply in January, dont expect to leave until October (although a few lucky people will get to go earlier due to drop outs or whatever)... and you wont be likely to leave until at least the following January. If you apply in June/July/August then I wouldn't expect to leave until the next July. I'm pretty sure that you need to be 18 for the F2F but I would check with Yummy on when they would expect them to be.
I emailed asking the same question (I'm an August baby!) and they said you can apply if you're 18 by the F2F interviews, though they said those would probably be held in Sept, so you might just miss out But the dates aren't confirmed yet, so you should definitely try and apply
i emailed and she said i would have to be 18 when i apply ??? she said they applications may still be open by the time im 18 so i could apply then. but i think if i apply late i would have a lot less chance of getting in
How strange. I've always heard that you only have to be 18 by the F2F interviews. I don't think when you send your application in has any effect on your likelihood of getting through - if they like what they see, they'll put you through to the next round. I've heard of people not even finding the program until a week before applications end and still getting through to the pre-screens, so I wouldn't worry about that aspect. With regards to when you'd go out, as Jen says, it's usually at least 6 months from being given a date to actually going (although it can be less due to them suddenly needing someone on a nearer date), so combine that with the application time, it can be 8-10 months. I'll be flying out in October 2012, and I applied in December 2011.
Yeah, they told me you had to be 18 to apply, but I could apply in June even though I'll only be 17 due to my birthday being SO soon... Was it Kristen who emailed you? I think you'll be ok whenever you apply, as long as you have what they want! You just wouldn't go til later!
yeah it was Kristen who emailed me. im still going to send my application in June anyway, no harm in trying
I applied in January and didnt turn 18 until one week after the face to face interviews so do not worry about it. As long as your 18 by the time you go it should not be a problem x
