Applications open early??!

Aaah, I just noticed that applications have opened way before they said they would! I had the 4th January in my diary for so long - and now they're open now!
Slightly inconvenient with all the end of term essays due.. but this may actually come before my essays haha.
This is good news though.. I want to go out summer 2012, so it gives me that little bit more time if I do get offered a place.

I'm really confused and actually a little annoyed. I'm still on the waitlist and yet have heard nothing from Yummy Jobs - we were told that if we weren't given a date by January 4th (when they told us the applications would reopen), we'd be 'released' from the waitlist to reapply. But they've reopened the applications without telling us anything! I'd like to believe it's because we're still being considered for the role, but I can't help feeling a little like we've been forgotten ... :-[

On the plus side, this does mean the application process should be quicker and shorter (the applications were open for almost 2 months last time), and since I imagine most of you were planning on applying the day the applications opened in January anyway, you can just submit stuff earlier instead ;D

And I was thinking I had ages to perfect my CV... looking forward to getting applications started though

aaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
this has really flustered me! APPLICATIONS OPEN EARLY!?! luckily I saw someones facebook status saying that they had opened! i was preparing for it to be january! ive checked the yj site a few times and its always said january, i dont know what id have done if id missed it?! but now im just panicing! im soo not ready for this! im still not totally sure that im going to apply! :/ i sososososososososooo want to! this is like my dream come true! but i applied in the last lot of applications for the first time but didnt get any further than initial application, the wait to find out and the the shear disappointment of not getting any where, just heartbreaking! and its such a long process i just dont know whether to try again?!

I know, I wasn't even going to go back on the yummy site until January 4th. I banned myself because I was just going on it too much for something that wasn't changing! LUCKILY one of my friends that's also applying checked yesterday and Facebooked me immediately! If I had left it until January 4th there still would have been like 6 days to apply.. but imagine if they close it early! I would have been SO mad if I'd missed it!!

I only found out today, by someones facebook status LOL

Its annoying in the sense that january 4th, I had 3 weeks off so all the time in the world to put time and effort into my cv and cover letter. Finding out now and it possibly closing on the 10th, maybe earlier, stresses me as im doing split shifts from here until the 1st of jan =/ I dont have much time spare at all, if im not working, I have to get ready for the Gala (butlins prom thing) and if its not the Gala its sorting peoples presents for christmas out =/ I honestly dont know where im going to find time to sort it properly, apart from doing bits and bobs before work, like im doing currently.

arr well at least you have some idea as to wen the Applications open and close ... we here who are on the AU/NZ program deal directly with Disney and have no idea when the applications open and close on the up side however we dont seem to have the amount of waiting that you guys do

I've had my cv/cover letter ready for a while so just needed to play about a bit with it first, but have just applied ;D ;D

I was actually wondering if anyone could shed a little light on the cover letter... Last time I did the program we just sent it with our CVs in an email... Looks like Yummy Jobs grew up a little since then with a fancy new website. It looks much better, but I can't find a place to upload a cover letter. Does anyone who has applied in the past few years since they changed it around know at what step we would send it?

Yeah I was a little confused when I saw everyone talking about cover letters.. because there isn't anything that asks for a cover letter. There's a little box of why you would suit the job or whatever or why you want to do it.. but am I missing something with the whole cover letter thing?!

I'm totally confused by that too! So if anyone knows I'd be super grateful!

I'm thinking I'll just put what I had in my cover letter in that little why you want to do it box but don't want to do this if it's not right lol

 

Some people post their cover letter into their 'motivation' box, but I think a lot of people (that's what I've done, anyway) put it in the same document as their CV, on the page before it. That way you can lay it out a lot more professionally than just shoving it in the box.
