Just wondering how old you have to be work there, because I turn 16 in January 2009 and I would love to work in the Disney Store, but someone told me you need 3 years retail experience before you work there?! Not sure about the truth in this, but another CM(are they CM's in the Disney Store?! ) said you have to be 16. I'm more worried that you need to have 3 years experience, if anyone could shed some light on this, I'd be really grateful As atm, all I have to offer is my pure love and knowledge for disney Thanks!
When i went to apply at sixteen they were fine with me being sixteen but were very strict on the hours, you had to work the hours you were given. Though thats my branch. I didnt apply in the end but some places you have to be sixteen and a half, there isnt any harm in applying when you are sixteen, you'll find out if you can work there or not. as for the experience, could be for higher positions, could have been a mix up between you and your friend. Hope that helps.
3 years retail experience is only for management positions. And to work in any store it is normally 16. You wouldn't even be able to have had 3 years retail experience at 16 anyway. Go and apply for it when you turn 16
Thankyou both so much I thought the 3 years thing was really weird. Hopefully I'll be applying in January Thanks again!
I work there and it's definitely 16... although if I'm honest you would probably have to be quite lucky for them to take you on. Just because there are a lot of different rules for under 18s... like you can only work so many hours and you got to have more breaks. If they have applicants over 18 I would think they would give them priority No harm in applying though! We had two 16 year old Christmas temps last year. Which store are you interested in? January probably isn't a very good time to apply because they will offer any permanent positions they have to the temps they take on over Christmas...
I do not think i would work in the disney store, i dont know why, it has never appealed to me, probably because there isnt one nearby.
th eone in peterborough were rather rude to me when i applied, saying that the only hours were available that septemebr were 9 to 10 hour shifts over the weekend. i said no as i was starting college. They said there would be no more openings in staff for the next year! I think they either wanted tog et rid of me or had had a lot of students come in. i wouldnt mind working there...i would be the one playing with the toys!!!! I might actually work there over christmas if they are taking on temps...hopefully the staff have changed since then!
I'm at our glorious flagship on Oxford St (755) 8) I miss London Mickey promo... I used to help Mickey wave at passers by and bring some smiles onto Oxford St and better still, the buses that stop at the lights just outside! Pooh's little arms are not quite so adept at getting people's attention but we are still waving, at those who notice us! You mean the Westfield in White City, London? or somewhere else? If so, who did them cause I think it was our managers that did the interviews there.
Actually I just started to use my brain and put you username together with the post and going to hazard a guess that you mean the white rose centre lol? Duh Beth.
I'm thinking of applying for a job at head office in Hammersmith... Though, I've heard it's harder to get into the Hammersmith Disney offices than the Pentagon... Hmm
I'm a bit annoyed at the Disney store. I've handed in CV's/application forms three times over the last few years. The first time I got a group interview spot and an individual interview, the problem was that I dont drive and the shop I was applying to wanted me for the early morning shifts and I had no way of getting out there for that time since I live over the other side of Edinburgh. The last two times the people I have spoken too about handing in application forms have been lovely, but you never hear anything back - which I think is bad. Surely it wouldnt take them too long to send out a little letter saying "Thank you, but at the moment...ect"
I sent in my CV to the Cheltenham Disney Store and they never got back to me...how rude! I'd love to work in the Disney offices...in the HSM room LOL. I swear a girl I used to work with works there, but I can't remember her surname.
I've had all 4 possible experiences applying for TDS lol - 1. handed in cv at oxford st, Phil (now my manager lol) looked at it and said no - no retail exp 2. handed in cv at hammersmith, never ever heard back 3. handed in cv at covent garden, had an interview, got a polite note saying thanks but no thanks 4. and finally, handed in cv at oxford st again, interviewed and got the job! SO keep trying!
