Ok guys and girls here's the deal - I'm going to apply in Jan for the CRP programme, but i am the type of person that will want to throw himself into it completely and try so so hard. I mean that's the best was to get it, no point in applying and not really trying right?

The thing is i have this tiny niggling doubt in my head that i may be seen as too old by the other people over there. I know there will be people in their late 30s and 40s but i want to hang with the people in their 20s (like most of my friends). I'm a party animal and always up for going out and doing something but have this little doubt in my head that i wont fit in and will look silly with all the people in their early and mid 20's. I don't look my age so I'm told, but i have this little doubt about being too old. I'm totally up for it just concerned i might be being silly? Does anyone have any advice opinions? I want to apply with a determined mind, and this little doubt is affecting it lol. Oh btw im 26 wont be 27 till end of 2011.

Im applying in Jan too and I am 29! (god feels so weird saying that only just got used to being 28!!!)

Can say form my previous experience there were plenty of people in their mid to later 20's out there - age doesnt matter unless your under 21 - noone will think your too old

Walmart itself doesn't sell alcohol, you have to go to liqueur stores, although there is one just outside Walmart. As for ID, yes you will get ID'd. US is very very hot on it's age laws. For the most part, your UK Driving licence will work in most places (although I had to tell a lady the other night where our date of birth was on it!). If you get worried, you can go and purchase a state ID, I think from the same place that you get Florida driving licences.

walmart does sell alcohol, they just don't sell hard liquor (i.e spirits) you will get asked to show ID whenever you buy any alcohol, no matter how old you are or how old you think you look, getting asked for ID in America is standard, You should always carry passport or driving licence if your planning to buy or drink any alcohol.

I could be wrong, but I have a strange feeling you need a social security number to get a florida ID card. And you won't get your SS# until you've been here a couple of weeks (I won't get mine until Nov 18th, and I arrived Nov 2nd, for eg). Also, your first few days are so hectic and busy, you won't get much of a chance to go to the DMV. I wouldn't worry about it too much... why not just apply for a provisional driving licence now, and use that out here? They accept those too!

you can trade in your license for a florida one i'm pretty sure. A lot of my friends had florida licenses, all of the ones with cars for sure, I never got around to it.
As for the age thing, 26 is average. There were people in their early to mid 30s on my program and besides one no one could tell. And you could only tell about the one because it was his 3rd time.

As someone else mentioned age only matters if you're under 21, which even then isn't that big a deal. No one cares, everyone just wants to have a goood time!

if u want a card u go to dmv it costs like $20 return to get there - u book an appointment online before hand take ya social security number and some other form of id and buy your id there and then for around $8 whole thing could be done in a morning or afternoon anf its a nice keepsake to take home - they are temporary ones only valid for 12 months

that would be sooo much cheaper than getting a provisional over here although id need to wait till i get my social sec no = less of a party rob for the first weeks, oh we simply cant have that!

seriously get some other id tho instead of just your passport i spent 3 days alternatively calling the embassy and everyone i could think of whilst trapped at the commons cos not only did i lose my passport i lose my apprtment key, my disney id and my commons id -so i couldnt leave or use the trasnport cos i wouldnt get back in - couldnt even go get advice from the CIPO people at epcot cos needed my id to get in there - was really lucky that i had 3 days off work and that orlando went back to the club and got the bouncer to hunt about and find my bag and my belongings for me

oh and to top it all off i also lost my bank card so i couldnt even get new ids made up as i had about $20 in the appt and that was it - bad times!!!!

i would always use something other that your passport for ID, your passport is too important to be taking out drinking with you and if you loose your I-94 card (in your passport) you are pretty much screwed......

Get a provisional..... yes its a bit pricey but well worth it for the peace of mind, and you can also get a replacement for it for about £12 if you need another one!!!!

Having your provisional licence also means you won't be worrying about trying to fit in a visit to the DMV around *everything* else that's going on. I'd say it's worth the cost. And hey, you're applying in Jan... you've got a year to save money and sort things out before getting here (if you get the job). I really wouldn't worry too much!
