Hello. I wonder if there is ANY Asians going to Disney to work in this summer. ;DIt seems to me that there is not any Asians on this board going to Disney.
well. I can say I'm an Asian-Italian so hope it's okay ;D my family originally from southern china but been living here in italy for more than 26 years now...so I consider myself Italian with asian origins... I can speak mandarin and understand a bit of cantonese...too bad we won't be meeting in florida too soon since I just sent my application...so hopefully will be there by march/june next year... Can't wait to hear silly questions like "you dont look italian" or "i think you sneaked out the Chinese pavillion just to pretend to be italian! ;D nam
Hello Nam. Nice to meet you. I'm from Hong Kong. I can't speak some mandarin. Of course. I'm a Cantonese-native speaker. Have you been to HOng Kong? I'm sooooo glad to meet an Asian on this board. I feel closed. YOu will be working in June Next year? Hey! I may join this programme again next year. I SINCERELY hope that we will be meet up. Oh my god. It is insulting to say that ," Ii think you sneaked out the Chinese pavillion just to pretend to be italian". I guess no one is so mean to say such a thing. I will share my experience with you after going back from the trip. Hope I will give you some USEFUl tips. Love, Melissa
ni hao melissa, of course I've been to HK, and I just love it! Sometimes when people ask me about my origins I like to compare myself, in a very humble way, to HK, which i think is the city where the Eastern world meets the West. A very modern city where asian culture meets western philosophies ...the result is a great, living cosmopolitan city! So just like HK i can really understand both of western and asian cultures, and consider myself very lucky to be able to relate of both of these cultures without any predjudice...... about the pavillion thing, don't worry about that, I never take myself too seriuosely, so these kind of comments are just a good reason for a nice laugh ;D I'm really looking forward to making a lot of new friends from every corner of the world....and learn a lot from each and every person I meet. Language I think is one of the funniest things to learn....so looking forward to learn a bit more of cantonese from you, and, if you want teah you some italian while we're there sorry for the typos but my wireless keyboard is out of battery (and looove to shop for electronics in HK, they're sooo cheap ;D
Hey! Nam. It would be COOL if we could meet and teach each other languags. You are EXPERT in Italian. haha.I'm expert in Cantonese. Having proficiency in more languages makes one competitive. Yea. Hong Kong is a DYNAMic cosmopolitan city. A BIg difference between Hong Kong and other cities like LA, New York is that there is a FUSION of Chinese and Western cutlure. Hong Kongers have both Chinese and western culture. Of course. Chiense culture is the dorminanat type. I'm INTERSTED in CROSS-Culture and Communication [ I'm major in Linguistics]. I hope that I will be able to acquire knowledge at the end of this trip. Love, mel
Hey Nam, YOu are competitive. You know 3 lanuages-Italian, Englsih and Mandairn. Yea. THings in HK are cheap. I will get alll SUMMER CLOTHES I need for this trip. ;D
