Well hello WDWIP community! It's been a while, I used to be on this forum two years ago (as Freckles for those who may still be around) when I unsuccessfully applied to ICP 2009. After going away to CCUSA that summer, completing university and getting my first full time job, I've felt there is something missing. I keep going back in my mind to how excited I was going on holiday and going through all the way to the final stage of interviews. I received a lot of information on this forum last time so thought I would come back for some more juicy information! Ok, so its probably all been asked before, so apologises now!: 1) If you have previously been rejected by Disney, do they tend to hire that person in another process? 2) will having a full time job that you have to leave in order to take up a position affect how they view you? 3) how much on average does someone in the UK pavillion make? (i maybe sending money home to keep up the rent on the flat!) They are the three major questions I have. I hope you lovely people can help me. Quirky Duckling
As far as I know the first two things you asked shouldn't have any effect on your application. I believe the third one depends on your role. Potentially FSFB would earn more than Merch because of tips etc.
Again, I'm not sure about the first two questions but the third one would depend on your role... I worked merch on my 2008 ICP and I probably took about $150-200 a week after rent and tax was taken out... so that's about £100-150 a week. But I didn't take much spending money for that summer so lived on my wages thus came home with nothing!!
ok, Q1 and Q2: being rejected once as far as i know will have no bearing on your future applications. a lot of people would have to give up a full time job to take part so dont worry about it, thats just a part of life for those who have full time employment! it wont have any impact on your chances of getting a job at disney. Q3: this depends on what role you would be working in and what housing complex and apartment you get placed in. for a non tipped role your going to be looking at perhaps 100 - 150 a week but this will go up and down with the hours that you work etc (ball park figure, its been a few years since i did the program so cant remember what my weekly pay was!!) if your in a tipped role then your pay will go up and down all the time depending on the tips you make so theres really no way to put a number on that.... your hourly pay will be lower if your tipped tho so you pay will be your wage + your charge tips (tips you get that people pay with using a credit card or resort room key) the rest would be i cash at the end of your shift..... can i ask why you would be paying rent on a flat back home anyway?? it seems like a massive amount of money to part with for a year when your not going to be living there...... i would just find a new flat after you come back from the program rather than giving loads of your disney money away....!!!! i have heard now that you cant get into a tipped role in the UK pavillion until you have been there for 3 months or something (im sure someone will be able to confirm or correct this?!) so it may be a while before you would be able to move into a tipped role and therefore you would have to budget for this.....
This is brilliant, thank you everyone for the information. The first two questions have been preying on my mind so I will be keeping my eye locked on yummy jobs. Emily JBC: I currently live with my fiancée and his wage at the moment can't cover all the bills. He is one hundred percent supportive of me going for CRP but we need to see how much I need to put aside of my current wage for emergency funds (you know things exploding, flooding, the usual). So the information you have given me is fantastic as it means I was thinking a long the right lines. eep, though I won't let myself get too excited, I was crushed last time!
Hey, you may have gotten your answers now, but in case you're still wondering. 1) There was a lad on here who got rejected 3 times and on his 4th application, got accepted. The only thing that would make a difference as far as Disney's concerned is if you'd done a program before and been termed (but even then, I know a lad who went on to do another program after that lol). 2) They don't care what you're doing at home, as long as you are willing to give it up if offered the position. If you get down to interview, they'll ask you to put a date from when you'd be able to start. So if you know your work would need 3 months notice, you just tell Yummy that you can't start till after that time. They are looking for people to go out all year round, so if you need more time, they can give you a later start date and give people with no ties the earlier dates. 3) People have answered this one fairly indepth, but yeah, in merch or on F&B podium, you'll get about $150 a week after rent. If in F&B and you get into a tipped position, you could get around $500 a week (maybe more, maybe less). You will probably spend a lot on doing fun stuff though (like I spent $250 on Discovery Cove ), but I know people who spent a lot more than I did and still came home at the end with about a grand. If you're in non-tipped, you'll have to budget carefully to be able to send money home. If you're in tipped, you probably won't even have to think about it.
