Hi guys, I'm not sure if this has ever been asked before but here goes. I am looking seriously at trying for a place in the work experience program and have been in touch with the contact here in Australia who is being really helpful. The thing that makes this a bit different is that I am 44 years old. I'm wondering if that would make me one of the oldest participants, should I be successful, and how I might be viewed once I got there. I have been a Disney fan for most of those 44 years, am a member of the Australian Disney fan club, am confident I could out work and out drink anyone else and have just come off a year of working on a cruise ship so I'm used to the close-quarter, international flavoured, living conditions. Does anyone have any idea what the top average age is for a participant and whether people are liable to look at me a bit funny? Greg
Hi Greg! When I did the international cultural representative program there were actually a couple of people in their late 30's on the program. I don't think age really matters, its the attitude you bring that people really look at. Hope that helps a little. Emily
I think age is just a number. It may sound silly but I thought I was "OLD" for applying and now going to Disney at the big age of 25 years of age. But heck, my mom says if it weren't for me step-dad she would be applying like a dirty shirt! She is in her 50s! I think if you are demonstrating dedication and enthusiasm to the Disney program you are golden regardless of your age!
There really is no set age limit as far as I'm concerned - I met several people in their 30s when I was on the college program, and the full-timers cover a very wide range of ages. At the end of the day, age is just a number and that's that! You're as young as you feel! It's the best place in the world for the young and young-at-heart after all!
Thanks for the replies guys and especially for not making me feel too old. If I make it I may have to resign myself to being the father figure and trying to appear much wiser than I actually am. It is true though that there is something about Disney, especially the parks, that brings out the kid in all of us. Greg
There was someone on my program when I went who was older than 44.. Like everyone's said, I don't really think it matters..As long as you enjoy it.. Obviously when your working, there's more than likely going to be full time people alot older than you are.. As long as your up for a good old party in the commons, Im sure you'll fit in just nicely ;D
I was at my f2f interview with a guy who is 42 I think (sorry if that's not quite right Daz!) and he's due to go out for a year in June. He's Dazzlingdaz on here.
Good to know that there will be someone I can sit in a rocking chair with and reminisce about the good old days. ;D Greg
oh heck ill do that ill just have to make up what the olden days were haha ill get me in a rocker with a bru ill fit right in and im only 18
