Hey! I was just wondering if anyone has been out with any allergies/intolerances? I can't have gluten, but I don't know how easy this is to manage out there, as I haven't been since I was diagnosed. Does anyone know how easy it is to eat out in resturants/buy free from foods in the supermarkets?
Hi! I am so glad you have mentioned this as this is the one thing worrying me about America! Take it you are Coeliac? I am.. I got to Florida most years and loads of the resteurants have gf menus and are pretty clued up about it, Publix is the best supermarket as they have a great range.... but living on our own, we cant eat out every night like we do on holidays so think it would be a lot harder......
Yeh I am, but quite recently diagnosed... I have heard that the US is easier than here for eating out etc... and that it is possible to get gluten free beer!!! I managed when I was living in halls, but only because my house-mates all understood how important it was that my things were left alone and that there weren't any crumbs of bread or anything left on the side... I guess we will just have to make sure we mention it if we get the jobs to our house-mates as soon as we get there?! How long have you been on the diet for?
That'sgreat you managed in halls... that was definatly my main concern when i relised i am that bit closer to working at Disney.... I have been coeliac for years, about ten i think, sure i was about 13 when I was diagnosed. Back then when i was first diagnosed America was clueless about it, i basically couldnt eat for the two weeks but the change is crazy in these years and you are right it is better eating out there than at home! One resteurant , my favourite in America, called The Outback has a gluten free menu and has gluten free desserts!!
