Ive recieved my docements through from yummy YAY But omg I am so lost, I have no idea where to start! Is anyone else freaking out...because I am kinda now! Help! ???
Claire what part of the documents are you lost on and what ones have you got? Will do my best to offer assistance
Okay, sorry if im dumb in any of this but im one of those people that worry! Ive recieved arrival in orlando, step by step guides to crb, flights etc, step by step for visa application and a faq document. with my visa...do i need to wait for the information yummy and disney send be before i start that? and my flight...im gunna book with sta as they're the cheapest ive found and they can let you know if other disney people are using them, but do i book a return flight or just a single...as i havent made up my mind about travelling in the 30days after my programme ends? probably really silly questions but id rather be a bit anal and find out everything that miss something and suffer for it!
Hey Claire! I've just finished my visa process so can try and help you out here You have to wait for Yummy Jobs to send through your Visa application so there's nothing you need to worry about before you receive this. It will include your acceptance letter, instructions on applying for the Q-1 visa, your I-94 white slip, instructions on what to fill out on the plane and your I-797B document. Once this has been posted to you, that's when you can phone up the US embassy (either in London or Belfast) to book an appointment time. With the flights, I've booked a return ticket because when I looked at singles they were around £800! I think you can book a flexible ticket with STA so that you can change your return date with a very small charge. £10 I think. Hope this helped
if you book a round trip you only get partial refund form disney at the end just to warn u try looking around for flights - if your worried about the cost indirect is cheaper - double check which airport your flying into e.g. virgin fly to mco which is closest to disney, thomas cook fly to sanford which is about 20 mins further away than mco i would personally book one way that way you know how much refund you willg et from disney coming back
Ah I was wondering about this! So if you book a year return with virgin for example which is about £450 & if you wanted to change a date its £70 I think.. Disney would only partial refund that? Because a one way even indirect I found at the moment is more then the £450 which would be preferable amount for Disney to refund. Do they have a limit they will refund on?
not sure but have feeling for round trip you only get 50% back - i think my refund last time was around $900 which included my flight and my train to airport and bus from airport hotel to airport if you only paid 450 for round trip then you would get like 225 back which is no way near what you will need to pay for your return ticket so you would end up paying extra - far better to pay the extra at the start and get it back at the end than going as cheap as poss at start and not getting enough back to cover your flight home when you finish i know some people who had around $1300 back so i guess the limit if there is one is higher than this
this is all so helpful thank you so much! when i started looking at flights, the cheapest i found was around 750! i then looked at sta travel who are partnered with yummy, who also offer a medical and travel insurance deal with flights, and a flight was like 240.. would you say its better to book a return flight with sta or buy singles, so when i leave america, buy a flight like a month before i leave and then disney reimburse me...does that make sense? and is that how it works? sorry i just wanna be completly clear and confident on this one as its the most expensive thing to pay for!
just buy a 1 way ticket to get yourself from home to orlando and worry about the rest when you need to, disney will only give you a full refund on your ticket if you have booked a 1 way ticket anyway, that money comes in your final pay cheque so your actually guna have to book your flight home before you receive that money anyway, you can usually get budget flight from the US to the UK for cheap if you book them in the states and pay dollars
Generally, I would wait until you get your Disney pack in the post. The documents on yummy's website are great for useful information, but I wouldn't worry about anything until you have to start doing big things. Of course, flights can be booked whenever... your big issue seems to be single or return. If I were you, I'd try and get a single... a) I'm pretty sure returns have to be within 365 days of the outward flight - thus denying you your 30 days of travel, b)Reimbursement for returns are funny (as already stated) c)No one is 100% confident that you'll complete your 12 months, thus involving more fees with changing a return flight. I'm not saying you won't, just advising you to be wary I would do a LOT of looking around at flights before deciding anything concrete. Also bear in mind that flight prices fluctuate a fair amount.
i remember when i went out firstweek of december, i couldnt believe i got a one way flight for something like £300! Thats dirt cheap im sure
remebursment - if you pay £400 for flight and exchange rate is 1.5 then you will get $600 in final pay cheque - its not like disney actually books your flights - wasnt sure if u were quite clear on that terefore more you pay this end the more you will get paid back so more money for final trip lol
Book your flight through STA then you get a 10% discount on your insurance if you decided to book it through them. Book a one way ticket as you can only book a return flight 9months before the date of travel. Travelling in the US is so much cheaper than the UK. JetBlue and SouthWest are great airlines to travel with, or GreyHound buses or something like that. By booking with STA the ticket I got allowed me 1 date change for free and any other date changes would be £50, plus if I had cancelled I would only lose £150. Hope that helps
