Ages of CRP applicants

    Hi all

I'm going to submit my application to Yummy Jobs for the CRP when it opens again on 04 January 2012 and would absolutely love to work at WDW for a year.

However one thing slightly concerning me is my age. I am 27 at the moment but, if all goes to plan and I do get a place, I could potentially be 29 when I begin working there.

As far as I can see, the company doesn't stipulate any age restrictions (and quite rightly so). I think it's more just a personal thing for me. I am young at heart and have plenty of friends who are a good 4 or 5 years younger than me. However i'm just wondering if there are many people who do apply for the programme and succeed who are in their late 20s?

I wouldn't want to be seen as the "old one" in the apartment/workplace.

    Any reassurance/advice welcomed :D

You'll be fine! A few other people have asked this question before (from both a 'too young?' and a 'too old?' perspective) and the answer is definitely that age doesn't matter at all. I've heard of people doing the program around your age and a few years older. Once you're out there, everyone will be doing the same thing, living the same lifestyle, so I doubt age is really an issue. Disney unites everyone :D

    Hey,

This was my problem ive been looking into applying since i got home from disney a few weeks ago.... Im 24 at the moment and thought Jan 2012 was AGES away now from reading these boards ive found out I could be potentially waiting till Sept 2013 to go out! Thats crazy!!

If your lucky enough to get a place are you able to ASAP it?

Don't worry about age! When I was there there were people from freshly 18 to over 35. As Missish said, everyone is doing the same things so it really doesn't matter! Good luck with your application process! It's so much fun!

I'm 27, turning 28 in October and leaving as Italian C.R. next December... don't worry, your age won't be a problem ;)

Actually, you could potentially be waiting until December 2013, just a warning ;)

When you get a place, you're given a date with it - it's not a case of 'you've got a place, when can you go?', it's 'you've got a place, here's when you're going'. You give them your availability during the application process. You can tell Yummy Jobs that you're available ASAP, which means you're more likely to get a place earlier in the timeframe, but doesn't necessarily guarantee it.

    Hi all!

I'm Su, 27 and living in Essex Uk. I can't wait to apply in January as working at WDW has always been a dream and I was told about the programme by a friend who has done it before, and also sent me to this forum, which tbh makes me even more excited about it all!
It's deffo nice to see others my age applying :)

Anyways hope to speak to you all soon!

    Su xx

Thanks for all the resassurances from people :) It's nice to know that my age won't count against me for anything!

I have also been wondering about work experience. I would want to apply to work in food and beverage. However I do not have any previous service experience. I have many years of retail and customer service experience under my belt, all of which I feel would be more suited to a merchandise position. However I really would like to work in a F&B role if possible.

Do WDW require their applicants to have had previous experience in the role they are applying for? Or could enthusiasm, willingness to learn and other transferable competencies be enough to swing it?

    Thanks again

From my point of view, I can say that previous experience is maybe a plus, but not a must ;)
It may be a plus, because I worked in a store in the past and I'll be working in merchandise at DW. I have some little experience, that's why I applied for merch., and I'm satisfied with my choice. But I could have applied for food&bev. with no problems, in my opinion :) In April I was asked by International Services if I was interested in a food&bev. position, since the pizza restaurant Via Napoli needed many people. I was given the opportunity to change position, though I have no experience in food&bev. (I gave up with f&B because I could not leave before October due to university).

So don't worry, experience's not so fundamental ;)

Since you don't apply for a specific role until later in the application process (and even then, it's quite a vague "Yeah, I'd prefer one role to the other" statement), and there's no guarantee you'll be placed in that role anyway (for instance, in the UK pavilion, there's a lot more F&B roles than merch, so even if you put merch as your first choice, you could still end up in F&B), you don't need to have previous experience in the role you'd most like.

Experience can help in the very first stage - getting your CV and cover letter noticed - but beyond that, it's very much about personality and enthusiasm. So don't worry!

whne i went i was given merch but all my experience was retail :) at f2f i was like i will do pretty much anything you want to give me to do job wise and they recommended putting fb as thats where most of the spaces are :) basically any experience in customer service type role is what they want more than specific fb/merch

I'm 24 and since coming back from the ICP in 2010 going back has been all I can think about! I could be 26 or 27 by the time I would get to go but thats not putting me off at all! I know it'll be amazing no matter what age I am!

    Hello!

When I did my first program, I was 27 when I got over there, and turnded 28 during that year.

Now I applied for Guest Relations, and I will turn 30 in one week!

So, don't worry about your age, if you love Disney and working there, you will never be to old for it! :)

    Greetings from Germany
    Chiyo :)
