Do you have to be 21 to hire a car in Orlando, or is there some companies that'll let you hire a car if you are younger? I go in June, I am 19, but turn 20 in August, ideally I'd like to buy or a car, but if I can't i wouldn't mind hiring a car for a few days.
Hi ! I think you have to be 21 at least to hire a car, and I've read that sometimes, you have to be 25.
you can hire under 21 with some companies if you mention disney! it's to do with their insurance. i used to use avis a lot! ;D
Ask for Disney discounts or mention you work there EVERYWHERE in Orlando! You can get so many deals! Most places you have to be over 25...but there are some that use 21...and a couple I think that go with 18...but there were lots of changes happening with the rental companies when I was leaving in August. We used to use Thrifty all the time because they were the cheapest, but then they changed ownership, so we used Avis...they were changing when I left. Enterprise was cheap sometimes too. You'll have to check with the branches directly (800 numbers don't always know they give a Disney discount) when you get there. Shan PS - Sometimes your credit card will cover the insurance on the car if you rent the car on the card...this saved me sooo much money!
Im def hoping to hire a car a good few times when out there - i can sense a lot of road trips coming on!!!
When I was there in October I used Dollar Rent - a - Car - found they gave the best price (I didn't have the disney discount though) - they charge a "young renter fee" to those under 25 and I know that L&M also rents to under 25 for a fee - just thought I'd let you know so you have some more to compare prices with. -Derek-
Or you can just get someone who is 21 to rent it for you and then give them the money for the rental. That is what i did all the time last summer when i wanted to do a road trip to Calgary or edmonton. You just have to be a good driver for that person to trust you with their line of credit
i think i'd be really scared to do that! just coz it's so so illegal in the uk...you can go to jail for it! you probably can in the us too i guess!? but im sure we'll find a way to get on our oadtrips girls! xx
not quite the same - but once me and my mate thought we were both allowed to drive our hire car, it wasn't too clear!! anyway it turned out that i'd driven all the way back from key west without insurance!!! (my friend drove there) luckily i didn't crash the car!!! ;D
thats funny...lol. Once this summer i got my friend to rent a car for me and 4 of us headed up to Edmonton to go to West Edmonton Mall. Well about 2 blocks from the mall a cop stepped out on the street and pointed to us to pull over. I was driving and was scared shitless cause we didn't have insurance and the car was not rented in my name. Turns out the cop was pointing to the car in front of us cause they were going too fast. PHEEEEEWWWWW. Could have turned into a shitshow if we got caught.
