well now that I know I am going to work at disney for the summer (HOORAY!) I have started looking at the kinds of things I should be taking with me and whatnot and besides the obvious things I noticed on the 'what to bring' list that it mentioned something about formal wear and a dressy outfit for Tranditions?? I was wondering if anyone knew if this applied to the college summer program people as well as the year long program people or if it's just for the year-long program??

What kind of formal events would take place if i'm just going for the summer anyway does anyone know?? And does anyone know what Traditions is?? I could really use everyone's expertise on this!! :D

p.s. I hope someone tells me that there are formal events for the summer program people because that would be insanely fun!! ;D

From what I understand your training is Traditions and you'll need to be dressed up for your training.

Yah, you do need some nicer clothing for Traditions. Not formal wear though, Traditions isn't black tie. Thank god. I'm in the year program but Im going to go ahead and assume it would apply to all respectable Disney positions. (Not that there's a non-respectable Disney position).

Traditions is well, Traditions. As far as I'm concerned it's a background on the way things are at Disney, hense traditions. As well as training and whatnot, but I'm perhaps not the best to answer..

..just upping my post count. Have fun down there! See you in the summer!

You will need something nice to wear for Traditions, the class that every single new Disney cast member has to take, and they basically brainwash you into all the Disney ways of doing things (it's fun though), and give you your name tag and your Disney ID. You may also need wear this kind of clothing to any training classes that you will take at Disney University (Merchantainment, whatever the class is called that foods people take, etc.)

If you received that little booklet called "The Disney Look" it will tell you exactly what is appropriate and what is not, as far as skirt length, sleeve length, shoes, and so on. During my year, I wore 'Traditions attire' to Traditions (duh), Merchantainment, Discovery Day, and my Disney Trainer class.

If formals are what I'm thinking of it's kinda like a party or dance where everyone is dressed up nicely (ie prom or something but not really on that scale).

Although I've never been to one so thats pruly speculation lol.

i know there's enough to stuff into suitcases as it is!! :D I like the idea of buying something down there too! That way if there doesn't end up being any formals... you dont go spending money on something you wont really use!!
