ABOUT MERCHIES ....

hi everyone, i´m teresa from Mexico and i´ll be a merchie on june 13th, of course, mexican pavilion...

i was just wondering if anyone knows how the merchies costumes look like? i´ve been trying to look out for some pics, but i havent found anything...

any ideas!??? its just that I HATE TIGHTS, like most girls i think haha and i know we´ll have to wear them.. :'(

Most folks wear knee highs rather than tights. FL heat + tights...euch! lol. ;D

Hate to break it to ya, but I'm afraid you will have to wear nylons or knee highs.....yes even in the dog days of summer!! The only Country that have costumes where the girls don't have to wear those, was CANADA (where I'm from). We only wore shorts with a plaid shirt and hiking boots. Pretty nice for the summer I'd say! We only wore tights in the winter if we wore our kulots. And even in the winter most of us preferred our shorts....hehehe. But the Mexican Pavilion is inside, so it shouldn't be too too bad! Enjoy your experience!! You'll have a blast! I think about it every day, and want to go back sooooo bad. And I've been back in Canada for a year and a half already!!!

 

The mexican merchie costume is pretty nice. Only the attractions costume takes a little to get used to lol Unless your favorite colours are green and yellow and you like looking like a bell ( lol that's what my mexican roomie always said ). But since everyone is always running around in costumes you will forget how ridiculous you look by the end of the first week.

that so cool about canadians!! not wearing looooong skirts, tights etc... and im sure u miss very much the whole florida concept. im still im mexico, leaving in june 13th, but i dont want to even think the day i have to fly back to mexico after finishing my year :'(

and thanks dancing queen, i´m glad our costumes arent that ugly.. haha but anyways we all will look so ridiculous in our costumes!.. but yes, its just time to get used to...

My family is FROM NOVA SCOTIA and I am flying OUT from there so becuase you and I are so TIGHT.......you tell em your from the EAST COAST!!!

You can wear my COOL COSTUME!!! ;D ;D We will look like LUMBERDORKS together!!

Yeah, I'm not sure why they decided Canadians had to look like a lumberjack!?! But in the end you will be very happy with the costume they provide as it's probably one of the coolest to wear in the summer, and one of the warmest to wear in the winter. In the coldest days, you get to wear very warm jackets!!!! So it's not as bad as it seems. They had to project Canadians somehow. Be proud! It's a blast! You'll have a lot of people teasing you about it, but just go with the flow! So what part will you be in Spa Girl? F&B? Merch? Attractions? I was in Merch. and Attractions when I went and loved every minute of it......except the hurricanes of course. To all of you though......ENJOY!! Maybe I"ll see you this summer......I'm coming down on vacation in July and August (my sister and brother-in-law live in Florida). So I can't wait to return!!

I have NOT done it in a VERY LONG TIME but hey....it will come back to me!! I have TONS of experience in MERCH so I wanted something DIFFERENT!!
I LOVE the costume to be very honest with ya.....I mean I work at CASINO RAMA right now and wear a WOOL SUIT at the front desk so ANYTHING is better then that!! SO HOT and no end in sight......

OHHH WAIT...............there is the LIGHT at the end of the tunnel.....it's a MOUSE!! 8) ;D

 

Hahahahah............you're funny!! Well more news for you now. The F&B costumes in the Le Cellier restaurant are different from Merchies, and F&B Outside. Inside you wear black pants and a very nice red and black checkered shirt. It's actually very pleasant. I'm having dinner at Le Cellier on August 15 all of my managers I worked with back when I was there. So who knows, maybe I'll see ya. I'm glad there's people out there like you who are willing to do F&B........I don't think I could have done it! But there's so much to experience, see and do etc....your year will be done before you know it!! If there's one thing I have to recommend to you.....it's to do "Dolphins in Depth" at EPCOT. It takes place at the "Living Seas". Go with a friend. It's for three hours in the morning and Cast Members get a discount! Anyway, I've gotten way off of topic here, so I should go, but I'll say one last thing........TAKE ME WITH YOU!!!!!

 

I would be HONOURED to take you with me!! It would actually be FUN!! I know exactly what the costumes look like as I returned in February from a wee vacation! It's the mere thought of wearing workboots that gets me excited!! HAHAHAH I will NOT unfortunately be down there for your dinner.....however it would simply be MY PLEASURE to serve you!! HAHAH By the time I learn the menus and figure out the way the restuarant operates.....it will be almost.....April of NEXT YEAR!! God it always sounds SO far away....I work at Casino Rama and when my guests ask when I am leaving it seems SO FAR IN THE FUTURE and although it is RIGHT on me faster then I will be able to imagine it.

I plan on doing ALOT when Ia m down there!! I appreciate the other positions.....MERCH would be SUCH FUN but I wanted DIFFERENT!! That is what this term is for me....CHANGE!!

I will be leaving a "LIFE" behind me and starting over!! So, for me......getting voluntEARS in, some school......travel.....WHATEVER I CAN DO!! So exciting.......not to mention the TONS of friends that I will be meeting and keeping!!!

No need to apologize for going on and on about Disney......God, I've been back since March of 2005 and I still go on and on and on........it never leaves you!!!! So when is the exact date you are going down? Where in Ontario are you from? I'm guessing Orillia since you say you work at Casino Rama.......I'm from the Kitchener-Waterloo area. Ever heard of Wellesley? Tiny little place that alway sparked conversation when I was a Cast Member.......even got some cheers when I did the introduction speech in the Attraction! Hey Jacqueline! Don't knock the cullottes! I wore shorts for like a week until I realized I didn't want to spend my year dressed as a man. I'll have you know I rocked the cullottes all winter AND summer! Had to keep trading them in for bigger sizes, but that's another story!
