im on the 6th month programme an was wondering if ur allowed to book days off? last summer i worked at a theme park in new jersey an we had one day a week off but if we wanted we could book others like i took 4 days an went to niagara falls. i'd like to go back an visit ppl for 3 or 4 days during summer but obv if i only get 1 day a week then i cant go!
You can request days off..but its not always certain you'll get them.. You can also tho, request for back to back days off, so you could have, saturday n sunday of one week..then monday n tuesday off the next..So then u'd have 4 days in a row off..Im not 100% sure when the end of the week is at disney..i can't remember..But u can basically request like 2 days off at the end of one week and then the other 2 days at the beginning of the next week..
Yeah, they'll explain it to you once you get there, but basically you request days off through the Disney Portal. What John said is true too, I think the week goes Sunday - Saturday so you could get Friday Saturday, then Sunday Monday off. I did that a couple of times.
it depends on your location though. when ever i requested days off, i was never honoured them. maybe they just didn't like me :'(
oooooooooooooh cool cus i really wana go to nj before they starts closing down at the end of summer so ideally id wana go there the end of aug/start sept maybe even labor day weekend but i will only have been at disney for like 6 weeks by then so il try not to push my luck!
What it sometimes depends on is how busy the parks are and how staffed your location is. If you're in a busy season and your location is understaffed, good luck getting time off! But yes you can try to book it off and as always the sooner the better!
They changed the whole structure so now you book time off through the hub (replaces the portal) and you never deal with your scheduling manager directly. They also changed it so you can only book back to backs a certain number of times. I think it's once every 3 months or something like that.
Just try and work out when you want to travel, and then ask for it off as soon as you are able to figure out the portal! I asked for two days (4th/5th December) in May 2006 and they got honoured straight away. The closer it gets to the days you want off, the less likely it is that you will get them off. The other alternative is to either get people to take your shifts, or switch them.
This was basically how it was last summer... you can still be denied by the scheduling manager, unless they changed that as well.
I can remember when we got a new scheduler at the jungle, and every CP was denied requested days off no matter what the reason for requesting them, so we had to go through managers (which was how I got boxing day off to sing in Candlelight...though I was prepared to call in personal for it)...it was annoying, but funny to think of now.
