Weldone to all of us ;D Just a topic for those who are being interviewed on the 27th march, so we can get to know each other a bit more...even though some of you guys know each other a bit already! Maybe come up with a plan for after interview perhaps??? x ;D Im Todd 21 Salford Uni 3rd year tres excited ICP 08 graduate!
Hi there, I'm Andrew, similarly in 3rd year of University and was on the Summer ICP last year. I live in the green belt in Hertfordshire so could meet up before or after our interviews on 27th. We'd be having our interviews at different times throughout the afternoon with the last ones likely to finish around 6:30. I'd be happy to meet up for a meal after this, though I'd expect others coming from further away to be wanting to make their way home in reasonable time. Don't know how many would be staying the night before the interview given the relatively late start time of 10:30, but if there are sufficient people we could meet up beforehand - perhaps even for coffee nearby on the morning of the interview.
Cor is there only two so far?? Well I'm there for the 27th along with my friend Laura. I did the 6month graduate program Jan-July 2008 and worked (somewhat briefly) at the Disney Store if that counts??! I have a 2nd interview for the cruise line next week too... Can you tell I'm desperate to go back?! Fingers crossed...will be weird if there are only a few of us but at least we can get to know everyone. What time is it? I never actually got that (she gave me the 1st but i changed it so could go with Laura since she is staying with me in London)... But yeah, coffee sounds good, or anything. I'm coming in from South London so nice and easy for me luckily, I seem to have been loads (yet still no job...hhmmm), so no worries about where to go! 4 weeks people!
Well it looks like its going to be a select gathering, perhaps a meet up in one of the coffee shops in the shopping centre 1/2hr beforehand connected to Hammersmith Piccadilly line tube station? Instructions are to get to Disney (3 Queen Caroline Street, Hammersmith) for 10:30 a.m. for a prompt 11:00 a.m. presentation (1hr later than the interviews on 1st April seem to be). Other than that the email was pretty standard, I presume you've got the list of ID's you need to take from the first email they sent you.
Yeah that sounds good, I never really explored the mall - always went straight to the huge Primark round the corner! But after the Adventures by Disney interview we went to the Trout pub, which was a bit old-man-y but a laugh. I read this and was like What?? but i realised i hadn't actually read the whole email, just the fact i'd got the interview! But yep, have it - alot isn't it?! Maybe its a good sign... Has anyone actually found out how many people they might employ?
Well from previous participant's estmates there are around 70 in the UK pavillion. You would presume they send people over evenly throughout the year so there isnt' a huge switchover with a set of newbies each autumn (yet this interview session's only for late 09 positions, and the other interview in autumn is for the other 3/4 of the year). If you did presume an equal distribution, given these interviews are for 1/4 of the year they'd be hiring perhaps only 20 people from these interviews which sounds a bit scary. Again I'd estimate roughly 40 perhaps 50 each interview day so 80-100 interviewed for 20 positions. Of course these numbers could be way off and the situation worse or better than I've just stated.
hey agen guys lol there must be more than the 3 of us on here going on the 27th haha...then agen we do get to go to like the Disney head quarters where as the others go to a bloody restaurant...i feel more special...well... I did ICP last year too...was a character performer...wot did u do AJ? As for ure very calculated statistics...im sure wen i was out there and saw a group of new comers there was around 30ish...they do go out in small numbers...but whats stopping them asking us to go out earlier or even later from our interview....we could be successful, but not enough room so could go later? who knows! im looking forward to it loads! xx
Certainly lots of variables over the number hired - perhaps they'll think we're so good they'll hire for positions for later dates too - seems a bit unusual the way they've scheduled to hire for 1/4 of the year this time, yet autumn interviews are for positions for the other 3/4. Being at Disney HQ does indeed make it a bit different, plus its nicer than the restaurant even if less centrally located. I was Custodial in Adventureland and Frontierland over the summer and thought it was fantastic - spent the day giving advice, talking to guests and roaming the park with a pan and broom. I lived at Vista and had a great time with others both during work and play.
Hmm, I have no idea about numbers then... Oh well better not to over-anaylse i guess! You guys got some cool jobs, I was merchandise in Mouse Gear, in EPCOT, which was fun in the end, as there were loads of CPs working there as it was so huge. The best bit was the friends i made rather than the work itself which was really quite dull!! Although I bet I get merch again, but oh well! It's getting back to the magic that counts! Hehe totally!! Oh and another one to add to the list, another of my Disney chums Beth is coming with us. btw i'm Lizzie!!
Hey, thought i'd start this topic up again. How are people doing this week? Still excited? I'm proper excited, especially as I've now got a job on the Disney Cruise Line - wooooooooo! Gonna try to be really greedy and do both DCL and CRP hopefully! Anyway, that was my news...any other news from us 27th-ers?
awesome how did u apply for the sruise line job? and when would you be working on it? id love to do that would be wicked! hehe! would love to be on the ents team but dnt reckon id do too good...wanna audition for disney paris too...but not got too much dance training but i do character work really well...haha. booked my train ticket to london 25 quid...bargain, from manchester! staying over at the ex boyfriends! exciting stuff! hows everyone else feeling im pretty nervous but excited...however uni work is taking over my thoughts...if i dnt graduate, i wnt b able to go...but the likelyhood of that happening is very slim tbh! x
Hey thanks Toddybee! I applied through the agency excellententertainment - found from dcljobs.com, they do all the entertainment side of DCL crew. I'm not sure when i start - whenever someone leaves i guess... Haha you should go for an audition for character - from what i've heard it takes a few times to get the audition right, and luck of the draw if you're seen whilst doing something good!! Hmmm 4 more days...excitement!! Cn't wait to meet up and just get it ovewr with its been so long coming!!
Questions were tailored to experiences, but the basic why do you want to work for Disney and explaining good and bad parts of your previous work experience at the resort. They tried to pair people together if they'd already done a previous program and given they have access to our record and comments from past managers can factor these into the decision. There were about 25 there today, with all interviews with Roger; he also did the presentation. The last scheduled slots were about 3 if I remember correctly so over quite quickly. Generally had fun and look forward to seeing some of you April 1st'ers at TGI's on Tuesday.
Cool sounds good. I haven't worked there before so I guess mine might be a little different to yours. I'm excited!
Good to see/meet y'all yesterday - i fear I was a tad overexcited but never mind! Now we just have to wait...eeeekkkk!!
